Hahah I agree! The anime follows the Light Novel so the Nicolaus we see here is the fanatic, not the lover. However, they are both have very serious and calculating personalities and it is clear that they care for each other so I do not think they would be the worst couple! Although maybe their personalities are TOO similar and they wouldn't be compatible haha

Raphael wasn't exactly being dramatic when she "sacrificed" Beelzebuth, she just REALLY wanted Rimuru to be hit by Hinata's attacks lol :P Raphael is a super perfectionist and she wanted to analyze a new form of power (Holy Magic and Spiritrons) in order to help her master. That is why she was basically tricking Rimuru and not helping him throughout his fight with Hinata. She knew Rimuru was never actually in any danger so she used the opportunity to make Rimuru stronger! After analyzing 'Melt Slash' not only can Rimuru use the technique not, but Raphael was able to analyze Holy Magic and how Spiritrons behave. After this analysis, she is now 100% sure that 'Absolute Defense' would be able to block Holy attacks. She did not activate 'Absolute Defense' sooner because she could not be sure it would 100% block those attacks. Rimuru often complains about how much of an uber perfectionist Raphael is hahaha she is quite the schemer! Hinata is not a Summon, Summons are purposely brought to the Tensura world by mages and a curse is placed on them so they have to obey the Summoners. There are 3 ways to travel to the Tensura world. Summoning, Reincarnation, and being a 'Stray.' Strays are otherworlders that arrive by sheer accident. They are drawn to the Tensura world through dimensional cracks that spontaneously open in other worlds. Hinata is a Stray! 'Preserver' is such a terrible name for Hinata's Unique skill and I am so mad at the translation for some things this season. In the novels, it is called 'Mathematician' and it is just such a better fit for the skill based on its abilities. In the web novel, Hinata and Nicolaus (the Cardinal that killed the last Luminary with Disintegration) are lovers (or at the very least they sleep together lol) but in the Light Novels they changed it so he is more like a fanatic follower of Hinata. Not sure which version I prefer, but in my head cannon it is still entirely possible that they have a romantic relationship in the LN!
