While trying to cross the mountains the party got trapped in the winter snows and most of the party died, the only food they had to survive on were the dead members of the party, so pretty much anyone who knows the history of the American Wild West will cringe if food and Donner are mentioned together. Because of his near death fall and monster encounter Nagumo has developed a brutal outlook on his future travels, don't trust anyone and kill anything that stands in his way.
