Adventurers - Fighters and Druids

Starting out on the new 2024 format here and the 2024 adventurers with them. I'm doing something slightly different for the adventurer stat block format because there's information like level and and subclass I wanted to get in there.

I really wanted to focus on making these useful as NPC allies, since it felt like that was the way the old ones got used the most and splitting the difference made them a bit awkward as both enemies and allies.

Let me know what thoughts you have about the new format; it's early days and I can still change things, or at least explain the thought process behind it.

I'm going to be assuming 2024 rules for conditions and surprise going forward, but on the rules side of things not much else has changed yet that affects monsters. I am changing the presentation of everything going forward, but: 1. The way I'm presenting things generally is going to be different than the adventurers, which have some special considerations. 2. I expect the format will evolve quite a bit over the next year or so; I'm still pretty uncomfortable with some of the changes and am still working on ideas of how to change and improve them.

1. The adventurers are using a different design than the rest of creatures will, since there are some different relevant pieces of info. For the vast majority of monsters the CR is going to be top right corner. I have offensive and defensive CRs split for the adventurers because PC-likes are balanced weirdly for monsters and I want to keep that information foregrounded; with the 2014 ones I just used the offensive CR because I wanted to make a point about how deadly they could be and how wide the gap between certain classes was, but I don't think that was ever communicated effectively. Here's the format most everything else will be using: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/odELETNaiJvx 2. There's a lot of things I also don't care for in the new format; I'm trying to sit with that discomfort for a while so I can figure out what's bad and what's just unfamiliar, but I do expect I'll be changing things as I have time to mature an opinion on it. 3. I left the bear link off because in theory you shouldn't need it for most circumstances the way the stat block is structured. I suppose it'd be needed if you need to make a physical saving throw, though, so I'll add it in.

Checkboxes for spellslots is a great idea!

No fault of yours but I'm not a fan of the 2024 statblock design. Those extra numbers for saves add clutter and waste space, and the challenge rating is still buried too deep. I see you've broken out XP and creature type into the top of the block; I don't find this personally useful. I'm not sure what to make of the separate Offensive and Defensive CRs; do you plan to release encounter building rules that incorporate these? I miss the simplicity and compact size of the 2014 Druid statblocks, but I understand you want more spell versatility for allies. Glad to see the spell descriptions included in the block. For the while shapes, it might be nice to include a hyperlink to the statblock of the beast. Sorry for the negative feedback. I love your content, and really enjoy using your monsters at my table!

Are you going to be switching to the 2024 stuff all together or will you still be making creatures for the 2014 rules?
