Yeah, typically I just bake reasonably optimal play into the stat block's balance and use things other than spell slots to limit big turns, but these are meant to be able to go through actual adventuring days with a party, so the attrition-based spell slot system stays a relevant consideration.

2024-12-15 17:29:42 +0000 UTCI actually really like the idea that the spell slots are still part of the stat block even when they have spell slot based actions that aren't considered natural spells. Keeps the stat balanced so that you aren't just casting X level action all the time.
