Hey!
Here's the latest progress I've made on the Mega Man Legends piece. Since the last update I completed all the final lines for the background and the characters/ships. After that I took it into Photoshop and rendered a lot of the values using soft light, overlay and multiply layers using textured brushes to create a kind of base painting look(similar to what I did in the Venom walkthrough).
My aim with this is to tap into that old feel that a lot of Playstation 1 games had, I grew up with all that so that aesthetic is sort of engrained in me. I've been looking a lot at the cover for Suikoden 2(shown below) as a basis for how to approach a certain level of noise throughout the piece. I'm definitely not there yet, but I was always into that feeling.

I can only hope through continued growth that I can get my draftsmanship up to a similar level. I specifically love the color pencil look in this one, it's that marker/ink/color pencil look that is especially appealing to me.
Where I'm losing that texture the most is in the skin rendering. I'll do my best to recapture that by the end! I think I actually managed to get that feeling in Data's face(shown below). Or at least I touched on it there. What might be the major issue with it is the lack of a strong enough drawing for the faces specifically. If the drawings were stronger then I would need to do minimal painting over top and could then maintain the under painting texture more.

Feel free to download all the images attached to this post if you'd like to zoom in and see the texturing and all that so far.
Anyway, I hope you've been well!
Thanks as always for all your support!
Dave
