The issue with censorship is that once you draw a line no one has the moral authority to say where that line stops. I'd rather the song simply not be played than be censored. It's not like in 2018 people are dependent on the radio to hear it, you've got a phone listen to it whenever you want. Fairytale is a good example of people not actually listening to song lyrics though. I like the song but you are right it is unpleasant, it's meant to be, and that just isn't for everyone. The way that people sing along with it though like it's somehow jolly amazes me. I think the lyrics where changed to you're old and you're haggard in live performances but the vocals just weren't re-recorded before Kirsty MacColl died.
