Okay, I don't usually write long comments but since it's the finale, here goes. I think Belly was just projecting during that scene with Conrad...she was the one that wasn't sure about her feelings being pure and nothing to do with Susannah because that's what happened with her and Jere. They were so attached (not only because they're besties) because in a way, they trauma bonded during their grief and lost themselves in their relationship. She's just finding herself again and I think was scared that she was doing the same thing with Conrad - hence her projecting and then realizing that her feelings are actually absolute for him.
I love Jere's chef story, it suits him so well! I wish they would've brought that in sooner or more prominent though because it would've made the cake thing make more sense lol He and Denise are cute, she's a great match for him personality wise. Also, I almost fell off my chair when Dress started playing and was absolutely gagged at the pause during the bridge. That was some immaculate editing haha
Ultimately, I think this is a really great finale when you go into it knowing about the movie announcement. If you didn't, then it can seem a little disappointing missing the epilogue and no follow up on the gang in Cousins. I'd imagine we'll get the wedding, Belly's letter, and more closure for Jere so I'm excited for that. I want to see what happens with him and Denise with her moving, etc.
My theory is that they did have more stuff filmed and written (hence the leaks) and that there were mostly likely plans for a 12th episode because 11 episodes is so odd (literally), but then somewhere throughout filming Prime realized they could capitalize on this more and greenlit a movie for the actual finale.
Lastly, I've got to say Jessie, I've been a long time subscriber and it's been hard to watch these reactions when you refer to the fandom so often. I would've loved to hear more of your thoughts without them being so defensive of the fandom. You don't owe anyone an explanation or justification for your opinions, especially those toxic strangers lol

Since it's the very final episode and we might never have a conversation about this show again, I would like to be annoying for once and try to counter argue your points after the Belly/Conrad conversation at the end as politely as I can so that it may offer you an alternative perspective on how I saw it when I first watched it 🫡
1) Conrad didn't quit football because he didn't like it. He loved football, but he hated that Adam loved him playing football and he wanted to reject him, so he quit. We know he started playing football again at Stanford as part of his healing process because his friend says "we need our quarterback!" to him in the first episode of this season. The reason why that is also connected to Susannah is because Conrad has told Belly that he found out about his mum getting sick and his dad cheating in the same conversation, so if she hadn't gotten sick they might not have had that conversation in the first place and Conrad would have happily continued to play football completely oblivious to his father's affair. You might feel like that is a stretch, but it's the classic case of one thing leading to another as a domino effect.
2) Belly using Susannah as an excuse to not believe the things that Conrad tells her is all part of her big insecurity that Conrad could never see her or want her the way she wants him. In the season 1 finale, after she finds out about Susannah's cancer, he says to her "I need you." to which she replies "I don't want you to need me. I want you to want me." I guess by the end of their relationship a part of her thought that he only ended up dating her because he was in a vulnerable state and wanted comfort in another person and not because she was his one true love. And Susannah was so happy to see them together so she thinks maybe that's why he did it, for her. It parallels that moment in season 1 when Belly mistakenly thinks that Conrad only asked to escort her to the deb ball because Susannah asked him to and not because he genuinely wants to. And then Susannah died, and it made everything about their break up ten times worse.
3) I don't think it's inconsistent for Conrad to say that he fought his feelings for Belly way before the summer she turned pretty. Conrad has said that it was a gradual realisation for him, and one day he was just "awake". I think it makes perfect sense that while yes, that was the summer that he finally arrived at the stage of "I have fallen in love with this person", he would already be dealing with a lot of confusing feelings in their interactions prior leading up to that moment. He was a boy growing up and going through puberty, he probably didn't even know what he was feeling for this girl that he has known his entire life and was trying to pretend like it was just a silly phase or something. And then that summer it clicked, because he was starting to get jealous, he wanted her attention, he clearly wanted to kiss her and was so happy afterwards even when they didn't, and the conversation with Cleaveland simply made him admit to himself that his feelings for Belly were romantic in nature after all.
Ok thats all, you can block me now because who has time to read all that??? I'm so sorry SHSJSB 😭
P.S. I lied. I just wanted to say how funny it is how we all perceive these characters so differently because I never took Conrad saying "Do you memorize every little thing I've ever said?" as him being a jerk. To me he sounded and looked clearly amused that she kept quoting all these things back to him, and then she got flustered when he called her out because she never knew how to be chill or lowkey around him lol (which is why everyone in the world knew that Belly had a crush on him)
