The Expanse 1x02 full-length reaction

For copyright reasons, full-length reactions don't include the show or movie footage, so you'll need your own copy to watch along with me. Ideally, you'll need two screens or two browser windows. One for the reaction, and the other for the show you're watching. Using your phone is also viable to watch one of them.

As many different streaming services in different countries often play trailers or recaps before the show starts, the easiest way I've found to sync up footage is to find the first RECOGNISABLE frame (ie. not a black screen) of the episode. Don't worry, I'll show you the frame to look for at the beginning of each full-length reaction!

This will be:

✨The first frame of the opening credits.✨

OR

✨The first frame of the cold open.✨

Once you've found the approximate frame on your copy, pause it. Next, play the reaction and you'll see a countdown timer at the end of the intro and when the show is about to start. Press "play" on your copy when the timer reaches 0:00.

A small (but muted) portion of the show will stay on the screen to allow you to properly sync up your copy if you need to adjust it. The easiest way to eliminate any small discrepancies between the two is to rapidly pause and unpause the video that's ahead until both are running simultaneously.

Note: Some of my older shows might have the first frame after the opening credits.

Nice post Mr. Petrich. I agree 100% with everything you said and you put it better than I could have, I'm sure. Well job.

Great reaction as always. Don't worry yourself too much about all the info the show throws at you. The show takes its time playing out so you'll have plenty of time to get to know all the characters, backgrounds, locations, and plot points. One of the shows best selling points is its character development and slow boil political intrigue. Well, that and its attempt to adhere to a semi-realistic science based sci-fi. Been looking forward to you starting this one. Here's to the journey.🍻

The show is really information dense, so don't feel bad about missing something, but you'll likely pick up on the important pieces anyway. I've watched the entire series several times as well as a number of reactions and I still catch interesting little details that I missed before. The show is based on a series of books and novellas with the authors working closely with the show's creative team so that the individual episodes fit well within a coherent plot that spans the 6 seasons. There is a lot of heavy world-building going on in these early episodes including things whose significance only appears a few seasons later. So although you may often have good questions about what's going on or why, trust that the story will answer them eventually. For example, you raised some good points about possible contradictions in the Martian's motivations for picking up the crew; keep in mind that if we are following the story from our hero's point-of-view, we inherit their biases as well.
