Ande - Easy had just been pulled off the line where they had been and were already low on supplies. They did not have a chance to be resupplied and were thrown into the line as they were. I think that the situation with supply and proper clothes has a lot more to do with the unexpected nature of the German offensive that had wrongfooted the Allies and they were simply unprepared for the situation. Combined with the bad weather and the rapid advance of the German troops, resupply was an absolute disaster. Even when the weather cleared, the drops were inconsistent and sometimes fell into enemy lines.
