Would you ever do a collab?
-Hells Yeah
Who would the collab be with?
-Iâd love to get Charlotte Sands on a track!
What drew you to do modelling content on patreon? Was it always a passion or interest? Or an idea that grew legs and wings?
-I started the Patreon because I simply couldnât hold down a job with my touring schedule, and even though I have a degree etc I felt like I was getting stuck in these minimum wage jobs working horrendous hours and my mental health was TERRIBLE.
So when my last job said âno you canât have the time offâ I decided I needed to do something to keep me afloat - and thatâs where the idea of the Patreon came in!
Iâve always disliked social media because of the awful judgement on there and also just the need to have it because Iâm in a band, and doing the Patreon is a way I can release daily content to people who care, people who want to be part of a community, so rather than it feeling like a chore I actually find it enjoyable sharing with you all!
Iâve always loved modelling but never in a million years thought I would have the self confidence to do what Iâm doing! When I first started I was so nervous every time I posted, but now Iâm super happy I started doing it because honestly it has helped me so much with my body image and self-confidence! This has moved to my every day too, I wear clothes Iâve always wanted to wear! I feel like itâs even helped my stage presence because Iâm just genuinely a happier person because Iâm very slowly starting to see myself in a better light! I know itâs never gonna fully go away, because everyone is their own worst critic and sees the smallest things that nobody else would, but itâs a step in a positive direction.
Does Bethany the model ever conflict with Bethany the musician?
The only instance I can think of this being a conflict is when I first started, and thatâs purely because the internet is mean and I was worried about the judgement. The LAST thing I want is for people to start saying âpeople only like them because she gets her đ outâ - I want people to see us because Iâm a damn good singer not the other way around. But thatâs something we have always dealt with because unfortunately thatâs just a part of being a female in a rock band! It comes with the territoryđ
What has been your favourite venue to play and why?
-Weâve played TOO many awesome venues! Okay, I think ignoring festivals because festivals are always awesome, we played a gorgeous venue in Haarlem that we had a great time at! Any backstage that has a massage chair and a toastie maker is in my good books!
What venue would you never go back to and why?
-I hate to say it because honestly it was one of the BEST shows ever because you guys were awesome⊠but⊠Scala. So Scala literally means stairs, and they have no lift, and no additional staff/crew/roadies to help you load your gear in to the venue. So purely for the load in/out alone, I do not ever want to play that venue. Also⊠they almost didnât let me back in to play our own show because my ID was in the dressing room and I was like âthat is literally my face I am playing in like 40 minutes!â AND - they did not catch or deal with crowd surfers, thatâs like security 101 for beginners!
And to top it all off gang, we recorded all of our shows from that tour, one for the live album, and two because we listen back to our shows to see what needs to get better, and they basically caught wind of this, and tried to charge us to record our own showâŠ. Baring in mind, they simply didnât need to be involved, it was no video, our own gear, our own sound engineer, our own music, and we had done it at every other show without an issue. Scala are silly.
What is your vocal warm up before a show?
-Before show I have a 15 minute vocal warm up that my vocal coach recorded specifically for me. I sound like a lunatic when I do it but each section is working on opening up parts of my vocal chords/throat/muscles (a load of boring things you donât wanna know) in order to have a clear open airflow! After this I usually spend about 5 minutes doing some big notes (usually I do the big Go Aways at the end of the song as theyâre LOUD and open everything up) and then until I go on stage I am basically constantly swapping between small vocal fry and air flow vibrations, so making a âbrrrrrâ sound is the only way I can think to explain it!
