To explain what Hope is: She is the original tribrid. If you remember, the Mikaelsons were originally a line of powerful witches (i.e., Ester, Freya, Dahila), and this is passed down through bloodline. Along with that, Hope is a firstborn, like Freya, therefore, she inherited a tremendous amount of power. She gets her werewolf side from both parents and her vampire side from Klaus. Her werewolf and vampire side are currently dormant, so she doesn't have their power as they're not activated yet. The genes are still in her blood though, so it still has the properties of a tribrid (ex: when Hope turned Hayley into a hybrid in the Season 1 Finale). Also - it's not uncommon for people with blonde hair to have ginger hair when they were younger, so it's not strange that Hope is a redhead (considering Klaus is blonde). Usually, their hair will get darker when they get older and either turn blonde or the red won't be as vibrant.
