Inner child is probably one of my favorite episodes in the series. You are correct that it breaks format in a great way. The criminal case is super interesting and his connection to Olivia is very sweet. The actor does a great job considering he doesn't speak.

I am telling you this now, with the hope you might remember this episode later on and the connections you make then are that much more satisfying. I can tell you that this is yet another piece of the puzzle which will connect with other pieces from previous episodes beautifully. In regards to the kid, I can tell you now, so you don't think the show made this episode too contrived, that Walter's theories about him, although correct to some point, were faulty since there is a very specific reason that the boy was able to help them, which will be revealed later. Also, just a friendly reminder that the Observer is still appearing in every single episode, just for one small frame at the time. Always watching. And that the actor is credited in almost every single episode! Too bad you didn't get into that story. I am saying too bad since other reactors were very intrigued when told this and tried to find him in editing every single episode (and he really is in every single episode)! Maybe you can join the fun (if you have time, of course). Also, I really like that you enjoy this episode. I know some fans find it a bit dull (exept for the reveal at the end) but if you enjoy it, oh boy! You will love this show so much. I am so glad you are getting into it, that you start to enjoy Walter's quirkiness and the off kilt humour of the show. This show really doesn't have one bad character. Every single one of them is absolutely amazing, including (or better yet) especially the villains.

I sent you a message on twitch last night and I want to explain in more detail about a bonus episode that if you want to watch it, you should best watch it after episode 16 (after next episode). Anyways, the episode Unearthed, is a bonus special standalone episode released during the second season. It was officially released as 2x11. While it serves as the 31st released episode of the series, it was produced during the first season and does not fit into the series' continuity nor is it recognised as a second season episode. Suffice to say that the plot of the season obviously happens during the first season due to multiple plot changes that happens between now and the middle of season 2. It is very standalone and it would not take absolutely anything away from the stories (either in season 1 or season 2) and can be easily skippable. I am the biggest Fringe fan, and I have only seen it once, despite rewatching the series at least 30 times :D. That episode was released later due to an accounting error. Anyway the reason it's best to watch it now, its because from episode 17 we enter the main storyline towards the finale and there is no point in stopping. And after season 2 begins, it would become obvious that the episode was made in season 1. So if you choose to react to it, consider this episode as Season 1, Episode 16.5. :D Now depending on the streaming service you have, the episode may appear as season 2 episode 11, or after season 1 finale (which is episode 20) as episode 21 (which it is not). As long as you know the title, which is Unearthed, you can find it easily on your own in the episode playlist. Sorry for the long message.
