I love your -A theory!

Michel Stephany Garces

Sorry for my 1000th comment.. but something has always bothered me about what Mona said... "you guys took her away from me." The -A messages began BEFORE the girls even reunited and started to talk to each other again. The entire reason that they became friends again was BECAUSE of the -A messages. It brought them closer. Now, if we are to believe that Mona did mostly everything to the girls, or even if she was targeting Spencer, as you mentioned Brian, I think that reasoning she gave was BOGUS. I think her/the team wanted to torment the girls a year after Ali's disappearance, since they technically never paid for "what they did." They knew that a new family was moving in and that the body would be discovered there. Of course, it also would have to do with Ali and the fact that they let her basically torture everyone around them, but it also has to do with power and control. And once Mona saw that the girls were getting closer instead of being pulled further apart, they went even harder. Just a theory honestly. It's also interesting that Mona saw Alison and I'm wondering how much taking over for Ali (in terms of tormenting) had to do with it.

That's a really good -A theory.

spencer and toby are one of the best, if not the best, written YA relationships i've ever come across. definitely still swoony years later lol

Spencer,(?) I'm presuming: Hi Lucas! Brian: Why are we talking to him? lol they were just being NICE. And, probably wanted some reaction out of him. I hate this whole storyline of "We're accepting Ezra, slowly but surely!" Like what? There could have been so much other story with him if they wanted to keep him on tbh, but they are cowards. But something I do love is Spencer and Toby! Whoo! They still make me swoon ten years later! I am interested to hear more of your thoughts on why you thought Toby was weird this episode. And whoa - I LOVE your -A theory. So smart!

Agreed. I was 12 years old when I began watching this show. Shows like this promote the idea that young girls should want to be desired by men who are older than them, that men desiring young girls is okay in the first place and that if you are not the subject of an older man's desire, then there is something wrong with how you look and how you're presenting yourself, etc. When your audience is mostly impressionable young girls, you have all the responsibility in the world not to set these girls up for endangerment, abuse and grooming. This show literally ~ encouraged ~ it and as much love as I have for this show, I cannot ignore the damage it has done on a whole generation's psyche.

^ as someone who was in middle school when Pretty Little Liars was on tv, it doesn’t matter if it’s a fictional show, it sets a bad example. I remember thinking of it as some amazing love story, agreeing that love should conquer all, and who cares if he’s older and her teacher. Only as an adult, did I see how absolutely f*cked their relationship is. And Brian has every right to be upset about it.

Remember this show is FAKE NOT REALITY. Fantasy
