I'm alright with the jumping off the roof part, even thought it was incredibly cheesy, but I was never alright with the forced kiss, not even on the first watch, if he had walked up to her and asked to kiss her and she had said yes, that would have been a great scene, but not the way they did it. Although I am refusing to let the writers, probably Mark Schwann in particular ruin Mouth for me with some of their story ideas, I like the actor and the way he plays the role most of the time too much, I don't want another Xander.

2023-01-10 12:57:13 +0000 UTCAlso, on first watch of this show, I loved Mouth so much. But upon rewatching, I've realized the subtle red signals. And learning that Mouth was apparently a self insert character of the show's creator, Mark Schwann, who as it turns out was a big time sexual predator certainly didn't help matters. No matter what the opinion on Mouth is, though, I've ALWAYS hated that ridiculous scene where he jumped off the roof, landed on his feet like a B grade superhero and kissed Brooke without her consent. If it had been ANY other guy, she would have kicked their ass. Because it's innocent friend Mouth, he gets a pass?? I don't think so...

2023-01-09 12:02:44 +0000 UTCI've said in a few comments that I think Chase is fine, which isn't the biggest compliment, I just thought he was more likeable than Felix from season 2, but we've spent half a season with him and all we know about him is that he likes to skateboard, the show gave him zero development, but it does make sense that he was in the river court scene because he's with Brooke, while it wouldn't have made sense for Shelley to be there since she's not dating Mouth and she doesn't know anyone their that well. Although, I was glad they brought Shelley back, for one because I liked the way this finale felt like the show was wrapping up all the high school stuff and because it gave her and Mouth a much better ending then they had earlier this season. I've always hated that moment with their relationship and the show never acknowledging that Mouth pressured her into sex, but at least the moments this episode gave her were better then ending it with her leaving and all of Mouth's friends saying she wasn't right for him or good enough for him, like they had been for a few episodes of the show, it felt like the closest the show would get to acknowledging that Mouth was part of the reason for the relationship ending and that Shelley's not the worst. I love the way this episode felt. like it was a great series finale, a series finale to the high school years, I also love that this show didn't try to keep the high school years going on forever but let them grow and I have my favorite seasons of One Tree Hill, but I still really like and enjoy all the seasons.

2023-01-07 12:36:08 +0000 UTCagreed! season 7 had really the best storylines for everyone. I think Stephen will like the post-high school years too :)

2023-01-07 11:33:46 +0000 UTCAgreed with the era breakdowns. For me, my fav is the 2nd era. There's just something about seeing their growth that makes it more magical

2023-01-07 09:20:03 +0000 UTCI gave this a 10 because it really wrapped things up for this era of the show. The next era is pretty rockin so I really can't wait to see how you feel about it

2023-01-07 09:18:45 +0000 UTC@thisismaria27 yes I am a season 7 lover for sure it is my favorite after 3 as well. I just like the additions and the storylines it is definitely my favorite of the adult years.

2023-01-07 04:48:27 +0000 UTCyes definitely you are so right in terms of character growth for the female characters on this show!!

2023-01-07 04:45:16 +0000 UTCFor me, the show NEVER stops being a fun time, and ngl, seasons 5-9 are my favorite half of the show, with 7-9 being my favorite era. Though I do love 5-6 A LOT. The show from here shifts to a more mature tone and i just adore it because it didn't do that thing a lot of shows that start in HS do, where they try to keep the same teen-vibe despite the characters being past it... OTH grew with its audience and embraced the shift.

2023-01-07 03:37:33 +0000 UTCI've always preferred the post-high school years tbh. They're all so good!

2023-01-06 22:20:48 +0000 UTCsee season 7 is my favorite right after season 3. but ofc it’s a preference, we‘ll see how Stephen will feel.

2023-01-06 21:05:20 +0000 UTCI actually feel like The best are to come, better drama, less teenage more adult and more humor, plus some of my favourite characters!

2023-01-06 21:04:19 +0000 UTCthe high school years/seasons are regarded by most fans as the best seasons of the show. so it really is like the end of an era. seasons 5 and 6 are pretty good with some fun storylines. seasons 7 - 9 is where i completely lose interest in the show though. i feel season 7 is where it starts to jump shark a little...

2023-01-06 17:52:11 +0000 UTC100% agreed. There are three equally exciting one tree hill eras and here is where the first one concludes. it feels like a series finale and concludes a huge arc for every main character. But the remaining seasons are just as good and allow even more character growth - especially for the women on the show.

2023-01-06 16:49:23 +0000 UTCFor me the show never stopped being fun and interesting. Dynamics change ofc if you have a show that lasts nearly 200 episodes, but they always found creative ways for the show to stay engaging imho.

2023-01-06 16:47:36 +0000 UTCChase is definitely a very ummm lackluster addition to the show at this point. But I think that was not intentional but also definitely avoidable. When the writers introduced Chase as Brooke's love interest I think it was because they felt that she needed to have a love interest to be engaging and to feel as though they'd given her a "happy ending". I don't think they'd grasped that Brooke in or out of a relationship is the most engaging person on the show lol and a relationship does not signify a happy ending for a character. There a multiple instances in this show where the writers have sort of written themselves into a corner and Chase's presence in the back half of this season is an example of that. He is left over collateral damage from the Lucas/Peyton/Brooke triangle. The writers knew what the Lucas and Peyton dynamic would look like once he picked her because they'd been writing to it for four years. But since her first day on the show Brooke as a character has been attached to the wagon of those two characters and her arc has been defined by them. The middle to end of season four is the first time she is detached from those characters and you can see where writers often struggled with characterizing Brooke without the weight of Lucas and Peyton attached to her. Enter Chase, a love interest not fleeting like Mr.Chavez was but with a good heart and potential. Only problem is they wrote him in and realized "oh we're at the finish line and we want to highlight our other characters and storylines." Chase is a great middle of season 2 or 3 relationship in my opinion and he would have been a strong addition somewhere in that time of the show. He is not the relationship you introduce as you are building up to taking your characters somewhere new and it feels like the writers realized that and realized that they weren't sure if he was going to be coming along for the rest of the ride. Again writing themselves into a corner because they've developed a relationship but not a character and the relationship also isn't complex enough nor is there enough time to make it impactful.

2023-01-06 07:36:03 +0000 UTCYou are 1000% when you said this was the end of an era for this show. Many fans group certain seasons of the show into eras of time for both characters and tone. For me it's seasons 1-4, seasons 5-6, and seasons 7-9 just mentally they all represent different eras of the show and different tone (at least for me in my viewing) I love each era so much because I am such a fan. I really hope you enjoy season 5 definitely a new era I think they'll be additions you enjoy some maybe not and some that will surprise you! Can't wait.

2023-01-06 06:59:54 +0000 UTCLucas got into UNC which yes is a very good school. For Lucas for a long time two things drove him family and a desire to play basketball. As basketball went away from him family and writing became his drives. Going to UNC was a great opportunity but is farther from his mom and new sister and Nathan, Haley and Jamie. The school with Whitey and Nathan is closer to home and keeps him connected to basketball via coaching and he can take classes too. So he'll still be able to get a degree. He mentioned at the beginning of this episode that he knew what he wanted which was UNC but when Whitey offered him the coaching position it left him undecided. But for Lucas working with Whitey gave him the best of everything basketball, school, and family.

2023-01-06 06:56:51 +0000 UTCI think the show never loses its fun, but I think next season really does shift things tonally. I think Luke got into UNC (that’s the school Skills mentioned) but chose to take the job, which I think makes sense. That way, he gets to see/help with Jamie and Lily. Also, Lucas being an assistant coach for Whitey is significant for what is to come. That’s all I’ll say. The Lucas/Peyton piece is also building up to something else - the decision that they both make for Peyton to go has ripples for their future, and I think the writers wanted to emphasize that choice.

2023-01-06 06:17:55 +0000 UTCno i agree! to me i still enjoy the post high school seasons and it may have a little different vibe but i think its supposed to. Plus it's great seeing the characters you get attached to become adults and grow up. The show went on for a long time and i still got enjoyment out of it later on!

2023-01-06 05:57:53 +0000 UTCBlack intro just means its an important episode and they wanted more time, credits take up screen time. This is one of my favorite episodes, it is the end of an era of one tree hill and if they show hadn't been renewed, it would have served as a great series finale. I think its funny that Chase irritates you so much lol. He is actually on the show for a long time, to the end I think. Shelly not so much. I forgot she was in this episode tbh. It was nice to see everyone together at the end. The Dan story goes on. I am curious to see when you will think the show isn't fun anymore.

2023-01-06 04:53:14 +0000 UTCThe "dark" intro, as you describe it, no longer indicates that something bad is about to happen. They simply desired more time to devote to the storyline, and starting with season 5, the opening theme we have come to love is unfortunately abandoned due to both length and cost. "I am curious to when this show starts to not be fun..." In my opinion, the answer is never. The next two seasons have the same feel as the first four, and later the feel changes slightly, but the essence of the shows remains, and it is still a great ride. One of the few series that I enjoy from start to finish. 💕 Can't wait for season five!!

2023-01-06 04:41:11 +0000 UTCi really love this finale! it truly feels like a end of an era and the highschool years are officially done. I like how they were all together at the river court for the final scene it was a good ending. I'm really curious to see your reaction to where this goes in season 5. I cant say too much about that without it being spoilers so lol. Like someone already said Lily's middle name is Roe not Rose and its kinda funny how lucas is not just her brother but also cousin
Kailey
2023-01-06 04:17:48 +0000 UTCI think you miss heard lilys name, her middle name is roe not rose which is Karen’s surname and Haley’s baby is called James Scott, James is Haley’s surname. It’s a cool thing that happens quite a lot in the show, kids first or middle name is their moms surname.
