2023-02-25 00:03:21 +0000 UTCso everyone's pretty much said everything i was going to and more lol but i will add that this show was the first disney channel show to reach 100 episodes (100 exactly) and the only have 2 spin-offs. aside from raven's acting career, she was also a very successful singer/rapper, which she started doing professionally when she was like 7 or 8 also raven originally auditioned as chelsea and at the time of her audition, the show was called "absolutely psychic." clearly she nailed the audition because they made her the lead and named the show after her. and they do get into her psychic abilities later in the show in different ways (and, of course, in the spin-off raven's home which is already on season 5). as people said, she worked with eddie murphy in dr doolittle, so you can definitely see that she studied him, a hint to that is all the costumes and disguises as you see in the FIRE intro. there's even special episode that gives homage to the klumps and the nutty professor. raven's mom, played by t'keyah crystal keymáh, is an amazing improv comedy actress. she was an original cast member on "in living color" which was a sketch comedy show back in the 90's created by Keenan Ivory Wayans and gave start to many comedy greats like additional Wayans siblings, Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey. (in living color is who we can thank for super bowl half-time performances that are actually worth watching). the wayans were really close to eddie murphy at this time, keenan especially. after ILC, she played a character on the short-lived series "on our own" which is a full house spin-off that focused on denise's family and lives in the same "tv universe" as full house, step by step, family matters, perfect strangers, and hanging with mr cooper. after this show, though, she ALSO played a Cosby kid, but on a different show simply called "Cosby." sorry for the massive reply, it's just always been interesting that some how these two ended up taking such similar paths to get to this show. this show also gives us the first disney channel crossover episode "that's so suite life of hannah montana" which i believe inspired all the cw arrowverse crossovers (definitely a reach...but is it really?) and future disney channel crossovers and actors popping up into each other's shows. it's obvious i'd love for you to continue watching this show whenever your schedule allows for it lol. from the acting, to the production, to the writing, to the fashion, this show was the blueprint.

The show is HERS and she has a great supporting cast, of course, but you can tell it was built around her and her talents. Also, fun fact… she actually said Kobe, not LeBron. You can tell that they dubbed it over, since her mouth is saying Kobe. LeBron was still a high school player and since they filmed a lot of the first season in 2001, he wouldn’t have even been a senior. Kobe would have just come off a second consecutive NBA title. I wonder if they dubbed it over after his death or even because of Colorado? Interesting…

I had a huge crush on her AND Eddie, my bisexual awakenings along with Miranda and Gordo from Lizzie McGuire and then of course Selena from Wizards. And i am shocked you don't recognize Raven that much, she is SUCH a big part of 90s and early 2000s tv and movies.

2023-02-17 11:11:31 +0000 UTCI definitely wouldn't mind That’s So Raven becoming a series you eventually reacted to. All these years later I honestly think it is one of the best Disney Channel shows. To basically reiterate what others have said Raven was THE Disney Star and honestly what Disney would go onto model Selena Gomez, Miley Cryus, Demi Lovato, Zendaya, etc. after when it came to their respective careers under Disney. Before That’s So Raven, Raven was notably on The Cosby Show (for 3 Seasons), Hangin' With Mr. Cooper (for 4 seasons), and The first two Dr. Dolittle movies. Then while she was on That’s So Raven as well as after That’s So Raven finished she was in multiple other Disney TV shows and Disney movies (both theatrical releases and Disney Channel Original movies) as either a guest appearance or as the lead. Raven most notably was the lead in the first two The Cheetah Girls movies and as a voiceover actress of the recurring character of Monique on Kim Possible. Additionally That’s So Raven has a spinoff that is currently still airing on Disney (has been airing since 2017) called Raven's Home. Raven's Home has actually surpassed the number of episodes and seasons of That’s So Raven.

I wouldn't mind you taking it on if you truly enjoy it so much! But only if you can and the work load won't be too much for you. Maybe later in place of another show. It also has some good life lessons episodes in it too, like Boy Meets World

Her comedic timing is really something special, and this was such a good era for Disney channel

2023-02-17 04:41:38 +0000 UTCI feel like you would really love reacting to this whole show instead of just the pilot!!! There isn’t one episode that doesn’t have some really solid jokes. Like all episodes are equal to Wizards season 2 comedy or better. Raven Symone carried this show on her back and it really does feel like a sitcom with actual adult humor sometimes. I feel like you would love it Stephen (and even if you don’t choose to react to it, I highly recommend just watching it anyway for some really fun episodes)

2023-02-17 04:25:05 +0000 UTCRaven definitely felt like the blueprint for so many of the shows that came after her. The show with Demi Lovato (Sonny with a Chance) came out in 2009 and kinda has her acting in a similar way comedically. You can tell she was inspired by Raven.

It was their first ever multi-camera sitcom, basically getting popular enough that the network decided to move basically exclusively multi-cam with a couple exceptions. Before this, they had done single-cam comedies Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire.
