I think Adalind was just trying to feel safe and comfortable. They both have their moments when they get along and are laughing or just talking in general without any animosity but then it becomes awkward because of their situation. At the very least Adalind knows Nick will do whatever it takes to keep Kelly safe, and she would want him as close as possible.

2023-02-23 14:06:45 +0000 UTCNick was under the assumption that both his parents were dead, and he was raised by his aunt. HIs mother turned out not to be dead, but his father is and Nick didn't find out until his aunt was dying and she came to tell him the truth.
