Marcel deffo deserved to be their equal what they did wasn't small they took away someone marcel loved as his own he wasn't gonna come back from that one and rightfully so, as Vincent said klaus and elijah have had centuries on this earth and they take away a girl who was 18

2023-03-26 17:45:28 +0000 UTCHe was perfectly aware the prophecy was still in effect or he wouldn’t have taken it. Vincent tells Joshua he took the potion without hesitation the moment it was offered to him. He didn’t even weigh the options or think about it. He certainly wouldn’t have made a show out of pretending he didn’t take it, but had it in his hand if the ultimate goal wasn’t to provoke the exact reaction he knew he would with that ruse. He makes it clear on the bridge that’s how the family always handles a direct threat like this potion. I do agree partially he probably wasn’t considering Elijah would be the one. He ignores Elijah almost entirely on the bridge, but he’s very clearly trying to provoke Klaus into killing him. After throwing Klaus his speech quite clearly make his intentions known… “You can’t stop me, Klaus.” Playing into Klaus’s need to react to any preconceived impending act of aggression. “Whatever I have to do, Klaus. I will find a way ti hurt you. You will never be safe as long as I’m alive.” Not only is this not a man even attempting to make peace or willing to entertain it, he’s making his intentions to be Klaus’s enemy crystal clear. His last line about not being safe as long as he’s alive is the most blatant baiting of an attack there could be. He spells it out for Klaus he needs to kill him to prevent his threats from coming true. And just before Elijah kills him who he’s still paying no attention to, he says: “I’m done being your family, your friend. From this point forward I’m your worst nightmare.” Basically quoting the prophecy and certainly making himself clear that he’s gonna be their enemy if he takes this potion.

If Freya hadn’t double checked, no one would’ve known. Yes Marcel knew the potion makes him strong, so when push comes to shove, he can’t be killed. But I don’t think he foresaw getting killed by Elijah.

2023-03-08 01:57:38 +0000 UTCI agree that no one is fully right or wrong in this situation, but I do believe fully that Marcel knew exactly what taking that potion meant. Marcel wasn’t just given a way to be a strong as Klaus and his family, he was given the very way to bring about their downfall with no natural weaknesses. The potion also isn’t evil from amoral perspective, but it’s also not really neutral. It comes with a prophecy of the Mikaelsons downfall. Marcel’s primary reason from taking it was to make it happen.

2023-03-08 00:57:14 +0000 UTCNo, he wasn’t. Marcel’s final words before Elijah kills him is literally: “You can’t stop me, Klaus. Whatever I have to do, Klaus. I will find a way to hurt you. You will never be safe as long as I’m alive.” That last line is quite telling. He’s quite literally telling him to kill him to prevent him from killing his family knowing he’s already taken the potion. Just as Elijah pulls his heart out he tells Klaus “I’m done being your family, your friend. From this point from I’m your worst nightmare….” Marcel came to that bridge to die and exact his revenge. You also don’t take a potion destined to be someone’s downfall and see how they react. You go there knowing how they’ll react.

We've been getting slight reveals of this prophecy from the beginning of the season & they all come true because they never do things a different way. Its always threats & bloodshed. He didnt want them to kill him, he was testing how they would react.

All Elijah could see was the prophecy all whilst Marcel is threatening to make them happen. But it still stands that Marcel taking the potion would only mean that he would be equal to them. The potion doesnt make you evil, it just upgrades your power. Taking the serum was right because when push comes to shove they do not treat him like family. But it's hard to be fully against either of them.

Vincent himself even says he had no hesitation taking it. He’s anger at them was taking full control. Klaus was making peace the entire time and yet Marcel ignores Elijah and starts screaming to Klaus that he plans to make him suffer. This was after he went on a tangent about always and forever. He very much went to that bridge with the intention of being killed. He even said out loud on the bridge he knew exactly how the Mikaelsons would handle this situation. That’s why he pretended not to take it. He needed to provoke them into killing him. And no, I put can’t be equals with the person that is both capable of killing, but also forewarned to use that power to do so.

He even attempted a conversation while "drinking" the potion saying - if they were really family what would truly change if he's their equal in powers. plus, I don't think he wanted Elijah to kill him - he took the potion so that he can finally speak his peace to the mikaelsons without having to think about the consequences bc he can't die.

There was no peace once he had decided to become the thing that was the downfall. Marcel goads and pushes them the entire time they’re on the bridge. Even Klaus was attempting to make peace. In fact, Marcel barely even acknowledges Elijah. Elijah actually Killa him while Marcel is screaming to Klaus how he plans to make him pay. Marcel arrived at that bridge already hellbent on dying and making them pay for it.

But Elijah saw the prophecy and went with his first instinct, which is to always protect the family. The difference this time though: Marcel was family too. Davina got the perfect send-off here imho. Raising hell on those stupid ancestors.

The prophecy should've influenced them by doing things a different way but the "Mikaelson way" led them to this. It was nice seeing Marcel give them a reality check.
