2023-04-10 03:58:23 +0000 UTCI've seen A Streetcar Named Desire, and while it was sometimes a bit hammy, it wasn't as weird or awkward as the acting here. It still felt quite natural albeit a bit dramatic. But I'll trust that there's some reason for the weirdness of this show and see if I can understand why it is that way as it progresses. I'm watching it for the first time with these reactions. I hope Madchen has a bigger part, she's a fav of mine. And I guess I've always lived in a big city so maybe people are different in small towns. But I always imagined it to be more like the eccentricities of the characters on Gilmore Girls, rather than what we have here.

2023-04-10 03:00:53 +0000 UTCOh, no, there is defintley an extra dimension of wierd given The themes and direktion of The show, I can't really elaborate because of spoilers, but in The show later I think The acting choices are more easily understood and it is clear it is not bad acting. But if you would watch an old Hollywood marlon brando movie, like a Street car named desire. Or on The watherfront, the acting is also quite dramatic and excentric. It is definetlyone one style of stage acting, but I think it is inlines with The show! And in a small town like this before internet and even digital camera you could definetly find excentric people like these!

2023-04-10 00:48:01 +0000 UTCBut in actual stage plays I've seen including Shakespearean plays, the acting is far better than this. It seems far more realistic (though not quite as real life as TV and film) and in those I can see the idea of seeing the person's psyche, which is often done with monologues and such. The acting in this just seems genuinely bad from most of the actors. Some exceptions are Kyle Mclaughlin and Madchen Amick (though she hasn't had much screen time, but she seemed good in what she had). And I think that people might seem slightly more eccentric than people are portrayed as on TV if you filmed them without them knowing, but not as eccentric as they seem in this show. At least not in public, unless they have serious mental health issues. Maybe people act weirder in private, but I've never seen normal people behave this way in public.

The painting conveys something The artists see in The object, that is, The painting showes us an aspect of reality, a perspectiveand and most importantly emotions, that is not visible to most observers of The object. The acting shows us what happens inside The person, The psyche, The emotions, The things we normally do not se when wathcing people. The things people do not show other people in reality. The point of The painting is not to be as realistic as posible visually. But that is why we like paintings, likewise if The point of acting is to look as realistic as posible, then it would resemble a home video, wich is extreamly boring to look at. And if The point was to be as realistic as posible, then sheakspearean wouldn'tbe be so beloved!!! Hope I expressed myself somewhat clearly! Also, I have to say that if you where to film normal people, without them knowing it, they would look much more exentric than how they potray people on tv.

It doesn't feel real and it seems far easier than realistic acting. Everything is overdramatic and the pacing is weird too. It makes it hard to connect to the story. Everyone seems like they're actually acting and not just real people having real conversations and reactions.

2023-04-08 16:23:22 +0000 UTCi was waiting to see if he'd recognize madchen from gilmore, or any of the actors from the dual spires episode of psych (that's where i thought he was going with sheryl lee - guess i didn't watch that far into one tree hill), or other episodes of psych. now i have to try to remember who else was on gilm---OH! yes, sherilyn. 🙂

2023-04-08 12:06:02 +0000 UTCIn theatre school there was a saying, if you want to be rich go into TV, if you want to be famous, be in the movies, if you want to be good, do theatre. There are still a lot of very good stage actors doing film and television. A good chunk of UK actors you see are classically trained stage actors, as are many good American actors.

Maby less weird if you are used to that more old school (or is like to call it, good) acting, that is more like stage acting. It's like columbo, or young marlon brando acting, wich I Iove. Recognice The two gilmoregirls actresses?

2023-04-07 04:07:47 +0000 UTCX-Files meets Northern Exposure meets Broadchurch is the best combination I can think of. And yes, it was revived for a season a few years ago. The theme song intro is David Lynch trying to make TV more like the movies. He's a major film director known for odd and disturbing subjects. XF, Northern Exposure and this were all pacific northwest productions that overlapped in time. You'll see actors that appear in any combination of them. For instance, Scully's Dad was the military guy in this.
