i think back in the day, there were more shows geared to a "family audience." the 80s anne of green gables, christie, dr quinn medicine woman. there were elements children could appreciate and watch with their parents and elements the parents could enjoy as well. shows now seem to not really try for that much anymore. aside from like hallmark channel maybe. this show pulls at that and takes after the 80s anne in that sense. it's for anyone to watch. children, older kids, parents, grandparents. everyone and anyone can find beauty and enjoyment in it and i love rhat!

2023-04-21 08:03:01 +0000 UTCyeah. i think it has decently broad appeal but is maybe intended as a family show that kids and parents can enjoy together? i don't know. i'm an adult without kids, but i grew up watching the 1985 miniseries on pbs every year (they always trotted it out for the pledge drive, and occasionally at other times). i was nervous when this show came out, but am glad to say it captured some of the spirit and major story beats of the miniseries (and what i recall of the first book) while still being very much its own thing.

I'm 100% going to continue sponsoring. Also, I just love how we can see how distressed, guilty, and upset Marilla is but still refuses to show her emotions, the scene of her finally letting her guard down and apologizing to Anne was beautiful. And Matthew is honestly just the sweetest, I adore the scene where he calls her his daughter and she runs and hugs him. This show is just so special.
