2023-05-13 16:46:40 +0000 UTCat around 24:30 Snake mentioned Derek Wheeler nicknamed Wheels who in the finale of the original show was intoxicated and driving with Lucy in the car and crashed into another car which caused a 2 year old in that car to die and Lucy to become seriously injured, blind, and immobilize and having recovered she is now only partially crippled needing a cane to walk as for Wheels he was charged with one count of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of criminal negligence causing injury, and drunk driving and according to Snake in this episode he is now out of prison but still hasn't forgiven him

2023-05-12 21:55:55 +0000 UTCSpike became pregnant with Emma in DJH Season 1 at the age of 14 and gave birth in season 2 Emma did appear in some episodes of DJH/DH as a baby and at the start of DTNG she is 12 and in 7th grade and her father Shane Mckay was not allowed much time with Emma and ended up using money that was meant for child support for his own selfish needs and an accident or possible suicide attempt left him physically and mentally disabled so Spike decided to not involve him in Emma's life

2023-05-12 21:41:12 +0000 UTCFinally got to watch it! So for context, the first season is a bit lighter. I think they had a heavy first episode as always a "this is what we will do and can do". Of course there are heavy subjects in the first season, but since they are young, its a bit more light. Season 2 is where it gets significantly darker. I think the main target audience is around 14. Also the parents aren't in the show much after this. It was a transition episode to get older fans into the pilot and have them introduced to the main cast of kids. Joey, Snake and Spike are the only real people who stay around aside from a few guest appearances later. The show focuses on our young kids and older teens (jimmy, spinner, etc). Jimmy and his friends i think are 15. Also the episodes are only 22 minutes cause of the channel it was on i assume. And later the episodes are released every day monday through thursday, which is what makes it addicting. Similar to a soap opera.

2023-05-12 17:45:36 +0000 UTCThis show was comforting to me through life. i am 24 and watched it since i was maybe....9? It played on teennick in order a lot like a marathon and i watched it over the summer as a kid (i think they were showing a marathon before a new season and in celebration of degrassi goes hollywood). It taught me many things cause i am an only child and often left alone. I shouldn't have watched this that young, to say the least lol. But it taught me about being gay (which i am, so that was nice), racism, mental health, etc. Obviously it's dated and not always right or good representation, but it gave me a lot of knowledge that made me more sympathetic and empathetic in school, being more understanding, etc. So when i went to middle school, i was just a lot more aware of the fact people had more things going on in life. Anyways, i have rewatched all 14 seasons at least 4 times from beginning to end. I love EVERY class of characters, which is a bit rare in the fandom since some people hate certain classes (casts of characters when some graduate). There's no season i hate and I've been waiting for someone to react to the show cause it's my favorite show of all time.

2023-05-12 04:32:42 +0000 UTCI know this is a long commitment, but Iβd love to watch reactions to season 10 and 12, since these are peak seasons from my generation imo.

2023-05-12 04:01:52 +0000 UTCThis show has a lot of two parters like ALOT of two parters and they usually came on back to back which made it feel like an hourβ¦. But damn seeing how young they are is crazyππ

2023-05-12 03:57:43 +0000 UTCAlso wanted to note that since this is a replacement for Glee, so while I enjoy Grey's and Criminal Minds, I feel like this would most likely suite the "replacement" the best as it is in the main environment is school and issues teenagers face. Someone posted a comment on one of the polls that said "after House do Grey's and after Wizards do jane the virgin but right now replace glee with Degrassi" which is a good idea

2023-05-12 03:40:59 +0000 UTCalso the other great thing about this show is its actually teenagers playing teens and not ppl in their 20's. ik off the pilot youre probably like eh but i promise u that u will like the show. based on the shows that i know u like you will definitely like it. the only reason i argue this show over the others is because well first of all nobody ever reacts to this but also jane the virgin while being a great show it can be slow. criminal minds and greys anatomy are awesome i think you 100% need to watch them its just that theyre so long where with degrassi theyrre are so many 2 part episodes its easier. also this show would just fit in so well as a glee replacment. u wont eveer get bored and dont worry u watch these kids grow up and graduate

2023-05-12 03:35:40 +0000 UTCI absolutely adore Degrassi. Would love if this was the show you picked and I honestly think a great deal of your audience would watch your reactions to it. I believe it was highly recommended to you in the first thread asking for Glee recommendations.

2023-05-12 03:27:00 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite shows. I really hope you continue. I don't mind that you know some things because there are so many characters and storylines that you'll still be shocked at the big moments. It also does what you wanted Glee to do in letting go of their graduated characters. New characters come as the old ones go because the show is about the school not any individual like Glee was about Rachel

2023-05-12 03:23:26 +0000 UTCi would love for you to replace glee with degrassi!! the pilot isn't the best but it gets so much better once everyone else is introduced
mindy starwell
2023-05-12 03:17:21 +0000 UTCthis is definitely a teens show especially as they get older.

2023-05-12 03:14:09 +0000 UTCSteven, you would literally make me so happy if you chose Degrassi to replace Glee. Iβm really glad you enjoyed this first episode. Degrassi used to air on The N (now TeenNick) and back in 2007/2008, they did a couple of βEvery Degrassi Episode Everβ marathon. Thatβs how I got into it, and watched the earlier seasons. They were towards the end of airing Season 7, in real time, I think. I was definitely too young to be watching it, but I think I grew into it! As someone else said above, Degrassi was really a trailblazer for teen dramas. You mentioned what the difference is between Degrassi and One Tree Hill and I would argue that it maintains a similar tone. Some of the storylines Degrassi tackled are later mimicked by OTH (namely, the school shooting episode) and I just think Degrassi really does have its place in the teen drama zeitgeist. Also, yes, the kids are young! But the lovely thing about that is we get to watch them get older! And they do a good job of balancing adult storylines in these first few seasons, I think. Also, High school is the gift that keeps on giving so there was never a moment I felt uninterested in the showβs entire run. And even in the first season, we get characters that are a grade aboveEmma and her group, so thereβs some variety in storylines when theyβre only a year apart! A lot of episodes are definitely more tame than others, (especially since they started the show with an episode like this!) but it is definitely worth seeing you watch this show even with your limited knowledge! And yeah, some of the acting isnβt fantastic and some cast members are better than others. I think people fall into roles and their skills as they age (unfortunately, the adult actors areβ¦ what they are lol) but there are also some great young actors/characters that Iβm excited for you to meet! A couple other things: Spike has Emma when she was 14. She became pregnant Season 2 of Degrassi: Junior High. So sheβs a super young mom. Joeyβs full name is Joey Jeremiah haha

2023-05-12 03:11:32 +0000 UTClike ive said the pilot isnt amazing but once other characters get introduced it gets better. this is one of my fav shows. there are a lot of funny moments and there will always be some cringe but idk its not too bad. the characters are pretty young at first but they grow up each season until the first gen leaves. also i dont mind that u know some stuff. theres still so much that happens every episode lol. obviously the shooting is a major one but its fine

2023-05-12 03:01:24 +0000 UTCOkay I'm back! I personally don't mind that you've seen moments because honestly..so much happens in the show that I'm sure there's still going to be tons of plot points that would interest you. My older cousins would actually watch Degrassi and I certainly was younger than the target audience when I watched these earlier seasons but it didn't keep my interest because of how young I was I guess. I didn't get back into Degrassi until probably season 6 or 7 and then rewatched from Season 1 and actually enjoyed it in its entirety. You do mention the kids a lot and I think one of the interesting parts of degrassi is that it's about the entire school. So Emma and her crew are incoming freshmen (? they're 12 so headed into 7th grade which is confusing because later on the school is only 9th to 12th grade) but the students in the higher grades are also main characters. It definitely gets crazy at moments but it does a really good job at tackling serious issues while also having wholesome and funny moments. Thankfully the acting gets better too (Nina Dobrev is a main character later on).

2023-05-12 02:54:00 +0000 UTCI believe they are 7th grade here, and the other cast not in the pilot are mainly in 8th grade. The acting gets so much better over time as everyone grows up on the show and the storylines really pick up S2. The first few seasons have some original Degrassi storylines, but they fade out over time. But they always push their limits it's not a kids show at all, even if they are kids in the first few seasons, I would lable it as a teens show. The first 2 seasons have a few filler episodes, and then onward they are all storyline focused. The pilot focuses on the OG cast, while the next episode after this and so on will mainly focus on the kids. There are a ton of Part 2 episodes in the show, so if you double up on the Part 2's it'll cut your overall watchtime for the show in half! Crossing my fingers you pick this up it. Also knowing 2 storylines already won't ruin anything, I already knew about the shooting before starting the show but I was still shocked how it happened. They cover every issue you can think of so I don't think it matters. Kevin Smith actually appeared in a few episodes out of the show. This show has about 7 different classes in the span of the show so thereβs always new characters coming in

2023-05-12 02:19:15 +0000 UTCBefore I get into this one, I'm preemptively hoping you enjoyed it! Degrassi is kind of THE teen drama to me but this is truly a show I grew up watching and I still feel as if it got a lot of things right that current TV struggles to. That said, the kids start off actually young so I'm not sure how into it you would be. Fingers crossed though! I'll leave another comment after I watch!
