pll could be telling a really powerful story about the way grown ass men fetishize, groom, creep on, abuse adolescent women - and how the liars survive it - if the writers didn't also try to tell us every 20 minutes how normal and/or romantic it all is.

The Perfectionists had so much potential and then they canceled it lol I really enjoyed the college setting on that show.

It's really weird. This show should have just been set in college since they love doing the student/teacher or older guy/younger girl pairing a lot. At least then, the girls can be seen as doing shitty things (like Spencer "stealing" Melissa's guys) or having a "hot secret relationship" like Ezria (even though that's still bad since he'sin a position of authority), like the show is so desperate to portray, as opposed to being minors being abused by grown ass men, as it is actually being portrayed. Not entirely sure what the writers were all smoking when they wrote this show but it's a hell of a lot stronger than weed, I'll tell you that

I remember Ian referring to Ezra as “America’s most beloved pedophile.” And VERY early on, I remember Troian on a local news channel in LA defending Spencer in the Wren/Spencer relationship to fight against the idea that she “steals her sister’s boyfriends”

also the actor that played ezra and the actress that played spencer - maybe others - have both spoken out AGAINST that writing choice and have spoken about how creepy it is and how it's not something that should have been romanticized. troian is my queen for many reasons. being so outspoken about the fuckery of this show at times is one of them lol

An unfortunate reminder that the show is rooting for Ezria. Hanna’s speech to Ezra is just a device to use teenagers to amplify their horrible message about “love conquers all” despite Aria being GROOMED. I feel bad for Aria that Ezra put her in this position. He’s the absolute worst. And you could tell there was some weird fantasy about minors being with older men - Ezra/Aria, Wren/Spencer, Alison/Ian, Spencer/Ian, Jenna/Garrett… it’s nauseating to think about.
