We learned a lot, we got to see Scott and Derek's pack working together and we got to see Derek showing how much he cares about Scott. Victoria trying to kill Scott is because they kept seeing each other. Them separating is the best course of action because Allison's family will never be ok with her dating a werewolf. Period. The ending with Deaton and Ms Morel is the tip of the iceberg.
