This show focuses less on the case of the week very soon. The first batch of episodes are very procedural because this was on CBS and at the time that was pretty much all they did for 1 hour dramas. Once they were picked up for a full season they started doing continuing storylines with the cases filling in as a B or C plot in the episode if needed.
