yup, malakai is indiginous, "black" is how they refer to them in Australia. and them using the term "brother" i could see why steven was confused because looking from an american perspective it could be confusing.

2023-08-30 03:22:03 +0000 UTCaww i'm gonna miss sponsoring this show...i hope someone else can take it over or by some miracle you could finish the remaining four episodes lol it's about to get sooo good and one of my favorite quinni episodes is coming up! so some things: to preface, i am not aussie and my knowledge is extremely limited but i believe there's tensions between authorities and a certain marginalized people. malakai is a part of that marginalized group. the rest of the group are not. malakai knew things could have been much scarier and much worse, the others don't really understand that. he also knows that publishing the video could only potentionally bring more harm to himself so he was desperate to just move past what happened. anmarie didn't understand that. i LOVE that harper told her to go after him and not leave him alone. anmarie is a very selfish character in so many ways. i love her, but girl has a lot of growth to do. quinni!! so sasha was kind of infantalizing her a bit due to her autism. a lot of people think autistic people can't do "adult things" like sex and drugs etc. they tend to see autistic people as like...very childlike, regardless of their age or maturity. sasha was speaking over and making decisions for quinni and that's not okay. i'm so happy we got to have that scene!
