I honestly don’t think he was showing off. Or at least I don’t think he was trying to. He just came to school dressed in the clothes while the others pointed it out to him. Jimmy did entirely too much when he made fun of his shirt and I did feel bad for Spinner throughout the episode until he saw Jimmy freak out about losing his mp3 player and still chose to sell it.

I've definitely stolen a shirt and CD from my richer friends before when i was younger from jealousy. They never found out but i just feel bad for him, especially cause Jimmy was being an asshole when Spinner was clearly envious of his life. Jimmy doesn't need to feel bad for him, but he could have laid off from clearly showing off.
