I don’t want to say too much on the Lorelai and Emily relationship so I don’t spoil anything. But keep in mind that Lorelai’s family is wealthy and with that comes a lot of baggage. There are different rules to a wealthy society. A lot of things Emily does, while may seem like a grandparent wanting to help, another side is that she has certain standards she wants Lorelai and Rory to live up to. Notice her reasoning for getting Rory things was just because all the other kids have them so Rory has to have them too to fit it. Also keep in mind the way that Emily talks to Lorelai. Criticisms about her life, her looks, her clothes and then imagine hearing those kinds of things all your life from your parents. Lorelai can definitely be stubborn, and immature. She definitely isn’t perfect but if you keep those things in mind, it’s easier to understand where Lorelai is coming from.

2023-09-19 21:15:52 +0000 UTCcoming from someone who absolutely adores lorelai’s character, a lot of her feelings towards her mother comes from the fact that she is so terrified of emily attaching strings to everything. even though emily does have good intentions most of the time, she almost never does anything for lorelai without making her owe something to her. friday night dinners are an example of this. emily has just never showed her that she wants to do anything for her out of love—only out of obligation.

It made me grow up desperately wanting to live in Stars Hollow and have Lorelai Gilmore as my mum. The town just looks so cosy and pretty. All the fairy lights and the gazebo...I still want to live in Stars Hollow lol
