I really loved this episode. I thought Taraji Penda Henson was great casting for Janine’s mom. There has been a ton of mentioning of her mom’s character throughout the show in tiny snippets of how she was pretty awful to Janine and her sister yet Janine just has such a big heart to be able to help her mom. I loved that Barbara confronted her mom like that. It really shows that she does think of Janine as her “work daughter” and that it has grown into a double sided friendship. In the pilot it seemed like Barbara was slightly annoyed by Janine’s positive attitude, but throughout the 2 seasons their relationship has grown a lot and become one of mutual respect which is great to see. Also Gregory is hilarious, trying to make small talk like that, but I’m glad he was able to make that connection at the end of the episode.
