This is the type of song you need a bit of information to really understand. I think Kelsey (one of the previous comments) explained it beautifully. This is a very emotional song as you can tell.
Basically, all of BTS' music videos are part of a storyline, which like one of the people in the livestream said, you really need to follow their career to understand certain things that they put in their videos. However, I think the main point of most of their songs comes across pretty easily. I don't listen to them as much as I used to before but I would say that you might like songs like "Blood, Sweat & Tears", "Save Me", "Danger", "N.O", "Mic Drop", "I Need U" and "Just One Day" (which is also on the slower side but you might vibe with it more than Spring Day, it is also an older track). They also have many great sidetracks that are pretty enjoyable, but that would be a topic for another day.

I didnโt get this one at the beginning. Lots of interpretations come from Korean fans who had the social context when the song came out and got the many references to the ferry. BTS only has said that the lyrics are inspired by RM and Sugaโs experiences. The producer of the song (pdogg)and RM have said they wanted to make a song that comforts people because of what was happening at the time. We also learned that BTS and the company made a donation to the families and visited them risking being blacklisted.
You got the main message tho, the song is about loss, but it also has hope in it. Thatโs why itโs still so beloved in Korea.

Thank you for your reaction! Yeah the music video can definitely be hard to interpret if you don't know what it's about but I'd say that it's very well possible that was intentional because at the time the SK government was highly criticized for its handling of the incident, the aftermath and their dishonesty about what had transpired. And because of this they were supposedly blacklisting those that tried to talk about it, so it's very possible that this is why the music video isn't so overtly obvious. They chose to represent the incident in a different way. And they are suppose to represent survivors of the incident that are reminiscing and growing without their friend that was lost in the incident. So yes, Jin at the bottom of the stairwell, is looking up and watching his friends continue on in life without him- sure they aren't literally growing in the music video but again they made it less obvious and represented it differently. I think considering how much this means to south korean citizens, they got their message across well, even if it's not so obvious for us outsiders looking in. I know there's a much more fully fleshed explanation of everything that would make it all make more sense

Idk if someone said it in the livestream but Omelas is a short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" where the narrator defines Omelas as a Utopian City, where everyone is filled with endless joy. It's where they want to be and live in denial the tragedy never happened.
The train is a reference in part to the movie Snowpiercer where the rich live lavishly at the expense of the lower class. Mirroring the fact that the people in charge got to live and the "lower class" got to drown on the ferry.
When you put your head on the track like V did you can hear how far the train is by the vibrations. So it's like he's waiting for the train to take him out of the snow/winter and hopefully bring him to a "Spring Day," This is the other part of the reference for the train. The kids put their trust in the people in charge and instead of getting their promised experience they died.
The pile of clothes is to represent all of the passengers clothes from the luggage rising to the surface and being the only thing left of them. It's also why Jimin finds a pair of shoes in the ocean and hangs them on the tree.
The song is called "Spring Day" because it's ultimately about moving through the winter, or grief, and making it out of the season and into Spring where things can grow again.

someone probably explained this to you already but this MV is about the seoul ferry accident in which many high school students tragically lost their lives. it's about the survivors that were left behind and the trauma of being left behind to continue life while they're friends lost theirs. the song was written by two members about their friendship and how important they are to one another
