2024-01-27 01:34:04 +0000 UTCbailey and christina are gold! and same here about characters we haven't met yet. i have another favorite out of the bunch we've seen thus far but i'm worried if i say too much on that it might spoil some things so my lips are sealed on that end lol but yeah bailey and christina are just!!! and they're such well written, strong chracters! not to mention in the scenes we've seen thus far where they have to act together/off of one another it's just wonderful!! both actresses are incredible!

2023-10-12 17:25:54 +0000 UTCoh also if anyone wants to share favorite characters- mine are bailey, christina and some we haven’t met yet ☺️

2023-10-12 09:09:52 +0000 UTCi can promise you he has no problem with women. stop throwing around words just because you’re offended that he doesn’t like a fictional character. i’ve seen him criticize many males before as well.

2023-10-12 05:47:25 +0000 UTCI don’t watch his charmed reactions but this doesnt surprise me considering he does this in everything i’ve seen from him including music videos, never have I once heard him talk about a man like that. People tip toe around it a lot of the time in the comments but lets be real it straight up comes off as misogynistic! I really hope he sees these comments and re-evaluates his attitude towards women cause this aint it. Can you tell im fed up lmao

2023-10-11 22:21:59 +0000 UTCmichelle thank you for saying this! it's the same thing as when he got upset at one of the sisters in charmed for wearing a dress. like it's okay to dislike a character and draw attention to their faults and what you disagree with but there's sometimes where it feels a little...idk.

2023-10-11 22:16:05 +0000 UTCYes, he is definitely allowed to dislike a character even if its for no reason but it can come off as very questionable sometimes, especially when he gives passes to a man over a woman when they practically are doing the same thing, except the man aka derek is in a position of power, so people are allowed to question that especially when this isn't the first time something like this happened. I love steven and his content but it's ok to speak up sometimes when you notice something you disagree on.

2023-10-11 21:11:17 +0000 UTChe’s allowed to dislike her for just being annoying or irritating, there’s plenty of characters that bug me for no really big reason i just don’t vibe with them. i don’t think there’s anything more to it than that tbh. as long as he enjoys other characters and storylines i don’t see why it’s such a big deal.

2023-10-11 20:26:07 +0000 UTCyeah the hostility towards lowkey kind of bugs me. hostility is such the right word. like still being hung up on how she entered that room a few episodes or whatever ago when she was frustrated and upset with derek and said "yeah?" in that annoyed tone. i get that she doesn't have to be everyone's favorite but there's that hostility there like you said that just feels a little :/

2023-10-11 19:06:44 +0000 UTCyes thank you!! growing up watching the show ss long as i did for the years i did she felt like a big sister character in a way. she was someone to look up to with her drive and passion but still so realistic and lowkey kind of a mess lol but in a not a bad way. like she's not out here being a bad person doing bad things. she's just a realistic mid 20s girl trying to figure out life and it's so realistic to me now that i've been this age. like of course she doesn't have it all together, no one does; but that's why she's a well written chracter to me. she's an "every day" character. she's smart, driven, does well, etc but she's not like a house character or a castle character or a mentalist character. she doesn't have a brilliant factor. she's just....mer. and i think that's why so many people can connect with her and root for her.

2023-10-11 19:04:56 +0000 UTCI agree, I don't like a perfect main character. I appreciate her (and Christina) because shes tough, but still has emotions, screws up and is an actual human.
Meredith
2023-10-11 15:52:04 +0000 UTCSame, she is quite frankly not even in my top 5 favorites and im so confused lmao plus I enjoy their relationship BUT Derek is the one who kept instigating their relationship to continue, she kept saying no and that it's wrong but he was determined to pursue her so why is he likable but Meredith isn't? Show me the scene where Meredith is laughing in peoples faces that she's sleeping with the "boss" and bragging about getting all of the surgeries- oh wait that didn't happen.
Michelle
2023-10-11 15:45:50 +0000 UTCi definitely think meredith is flawed but idk thats what makes me like her. she’s not perfect like leads usually are and she’s kinda realistic.
colton
2023-10-11 15:41:22 +0000 UTCSame- def not my absolute fav, but it's a weird hostility towards her specifically that I don't see towards Derek.
Meredith
2023-10-11 15:40:47 +0000 UTCTbh I don't really get your hostility towards Meredith. Sure, it isn't really right for an attending to have a sexual relationship with an intern incase favoritism does happen, but I don't at all see Derek favoring Meredith and ignoring all of the other interns when asking for one of them to scrub in. Bailey was the one this episode choosing Meredith to scrub in, not Derek and Meredith didn't even ask to be a part of it so I don't see how that is her fault? Izzy is just salty and thinks Meredith will be favored for future surgeries, she had no complaints when she didn't know Derek and Meredith were sleeping together, and George is quite frankly just jealous cause he likes Meredith. It isn't Meredith's fault that Izzy had to work harder to get where she is or to earn peoples respect, she never brags about anything and minds her own business.

2023-10-11 15:34:48 +0000 UTCalso no most people don’t have meredith as their fave, other characters are just more interesting
thisismaria27
2023-10-11 15:22:50 +0000 UTCThere are two reasons why the Meredith/Derek relationship didn’t bug me: 1) they have great chemistry 2) he is not her real boss (he is one up in the hierarchy but Bailey is her direct boss and Webber is the big boss, Derek is neither)

2023-10-11 15:22:24 +0000 UTCWould be amazing if ER got picked up at some point, Steven is into it and it gets even better. I wouldn't expect him to react to the whole thing at all.

2023-10-11 13:49:41 +0000 UTCI don't honestly know many people or, almost no one who has Meredith at their top fav characters. It's usually Christina or Bailey or other characters who come in later. My fav is George, but even I changed favourites over the years. Sadly this is the kind of show which, for the sake of drama makes some characters very unlikable, and not realistic in the slightest. That is why, I like ER more as a medical drama. Much more realistic, too bad it is too long otherwise I would definitely bid on it to keep watching episodes on request.

2023-10-11 08:55:44 +0000 UTCi love this episode. the couple was i think meant to be some form of comedic relief from some of the heavier stuff we've been getting. the college girl's story was absolutely heartbreaking. almond mom to the extreme right there. unfortunately, moms like that were kind of the norm back then. they, sadly, had their own unaddressed issues and those got pushed on their daughters. she was very selfish and cold though and i am so glad the dad finally stood to her!! that was so refreshing to see and much needed. i am glad derek and george had that moment at the end honestly. there is a hospital hierarchy and politics at play. there's highly respected people in their fields that can get away with a lot. it's the same in university with tenured professors, so to speak. like because they are so renowned, they feel they are untouchable. but i am so glad george spoke out!! someone needed to!! i've been in the fandom for almost 20 years (wow i can't believe 2005 was 18 years ago!! nope, i refuse to believe that lol) and while she may not be someone's favorite, it's rare that she's their least favorite. for me, i've always admired her. i see her as this character i've always looked up to who excels in her field and has a ton of compassion and empathy (but who is still just a very mid 20s realistic portrayal with all the messiness and faults that accompany that). but what i see as compassion and empathy, you see as her being entitled and butting in. so i guess it's just how different folks view her character. like when she relates to patients, to me that's her being empathetic, but some of the comments say she's butting in or speaking up when she shouldn't. it's interesting the different takes everyone has on the actions of the characters. i really loved her this episode, and when she said "you're her mother, she worships the ground you walk on" or something to that extent, my heart couldn't help but break for her, because we've seen the hints that ellis could not be bothered with her own daughter when mer was growing up. i also think her and derek aren't supposed to be as big a deal problem-wise. i think if she was younger, then yeah; but for the most part everyone is just like "alright, you're both grown, do your thing but if you let it get in the way of work, be prepared to face backlash from it." which meredith did in the form of izzie's treatment of her this episode. but i loved that scene of the two of them so much. their dynamic is one of my favorite things. to me, if mer and der got together knowing she worked under him (like christina and burke) that'd be more of an issue. but she didn't know when they met and the spark was already ignited there, making it hard to rescind on that i guess. to me, burke and christina is more problematic, but i think at the time this aired we were all meant to shrug it off as everyone being grown adults. i don't think we had quite the judgement on it as we might from today's perspective. it's interesting hearing what characters everyone likes and who is disliked. like i said, i've been in the fandom for a long ass time and never saw any real dislike for meredith so this is new to me lol taylor swift even named one of her cats after her (the other after olivia benson lol) like mer has always been kind of adored by a lot of people even from rough season 1 so it's really enlightening to see other's opinions of her and how they respond to her character. things i might not have questioned, i can see through a different perspective now and that's really cool! sorry this got long lol grey's is one of those special interests shows of mine lol and i get really excited about it every week! i hope that, in spite of some of your frustrations, you stick with it. at least for a good while. it's a very human show, with all it's faults and messiness, and it just has some very good writing in store!
