I agree about Ricky being Beast but also acknowledge that they didn’t really introduce another male candidate for the role. And often, especially for high school theater directors, they sometimes don’t go off of the audition, but off of talent and what they “know” you can do. So Miss Jenn knew that Ricky was talented and could possibly get it together for rehearsals, she was just moreso worried about his commitment issues. I think when she saw him support Big Red, that confirmed for her that she would cast Ricky. It’s a little meh, but I buy it happening just for the sake of I wouldn’t buy Big Red as the beast and there are really no other male characters who could do it.
