2023-11-23 11:53:44 +0000 UTCI personally never looked at Derek wanting to lead both women on but more that he was so set on being with Meredith and never talking to Addison again that he overlooked that he never really closed that chapter of his life and just ran away from it. But when Addison handed him the divorce papers he finally understood that he’s conflicted here. Does that make him an idiot? Sure. But it’s a human behavior to not know exactly what you want, it’s just very unfair to Addison and Meredith. As for Meredith’s iconic “pick me choose me love me” speech - she saw that look from Derek and realised that he actually really might choose Addison so she had to do a hail mary here and did the desperate thing. For me, MerDer are a lot like Ross and Rachel - they’re iconic but the constant back and forth gives you whiplash. They get much better in later seasons when they mature more.

2023-11-23 07:20:38 +0000 UTCYou won't believe how many people actually love that "Pick me, choose me, love me" speech, but it grosses me out. She came off as an independent woman in the beginning, but now she's so desperate and pathetic because of Derek? I hate it every time I think about it.

2023-11-23 07:02:42 +0000 UTCi definitely think between ellen and sandra's acting, sandra is the strongest at this period in the show and that reflects in a lot of things. ellen is great but even she's criticized herself and the lines she had this early on. i love derek and meredith but watching this show back some of the writing choices are very questionable. if i was watching for the first time i'd definitely need more to be invested and root for them than what we're getting right now. i wish so hard things were a bit different this early on because ellen has some serious chops but we aren't seeing them thus far while every other actor kind of gets to showcase theirs a bit more and that's a shame. i really love this episode a lot. the humor!! this episode felt very much Greys™️ to me and i'm so happy you had fun with it! there's this balance greys has between episodes like this and the really sad ones and i'm so glad they have that balance because that's so needed!
