I actually like that her getting the spot at the club at the end didn't have anything to do with the boyfriend. Yeah he bribed someone with the comic to get her a shot and that was supposed to show he cared and was trying to help her. But if she would have went and did well, or like you suggested that be the end it would only have been possible because of a bribe. She got that spot on her own merit and talent ,NOT because of a man's intervention and help.
