I agreed 💯 with everything Charlie said to Ben. Do I feel sorry for Ben having homophobic parents? Yes. Do I think that gives him a right to abuse and assault anyone? Hell no. There are actually Ben apologists in this fandom who are angry/disappointed w Charlie like...hi, he absolutely does not owe Ben anything, let alone an absolvement of his guilt. Ben didn't "almost" tried making an excuse for the way his mistreated Charlie - he DID make excuses for it. But nothing excuses it and I don't think he's grasped that yet. He doesn't even think what he did was all that wrong. He viewed their first kiss as a good thing. Meanwhile, Charlie is going to have to carry the burden of his scars for a long time. He's gonna need fucking therapy to deal with it. Can you imagine being in such a toxic situationship at 14!?!? He was so young!! There is a Tori-centric book that shows a bit more of Ben and lemme just say he does WORSE to Charlie. He doesn't deserve anything. And it's not Charlie's responsibility to turn Ben good. I like that we saw Nick a bit out of focus during the Ben scene because while he was there for Charlie, it's not about Nick. It's about Charlie confronting his abuser. And, yeah, Tori would absolutely fuck David up and he knew it too. Get scared, pathetic little man. And for all his talk and swagger, Stephane doesn't care about David either. He doesn't even remember where David goes to uni 🙄🙄 felt so bad for Darcy in the last scene. It made me cry the first time I saw it. It also makes a lot of sense why she is the way she is - so outspoken and bold outside the house because she feels so small at home.

2024-08-04 04:17:43 +0000 UTCI think having an absentee parent who doesn't give AF is better than one who is present but abusive in any way. Both suck but absentee parent suck a bit less. I think having an abusive parent wouldn't make someone think "they love me in their own way". They'd still think "why don't they love me enough to accept me" and they would also have to deal with abuse on top of that. It's so sad, though. You can see in Nick's face that he realised Stephane doesn't care at all what he says when Stephane said Nick hadn't told him how he and Charlie met. Nick had JUST told him. Last week in Paris. They met in school. Stephane then immediately forgot. It's tough to have to force yourself to accept that your parent just doesn't care at all. I'm so glad Nick has Sarah, who is just so lovely.

As a queer girl and from my own experiences, I would rather have a homophobic parent that isn't around, then one that is if that is what you're asking. At least I wouldn't have to be around them or hear their disappointing and disgusting comments towards my sexuality and how I live. I have homophobic parents and siblings, and hearing what they say knowing I'm queer is not fun in the slightest but I always just stay quiet and let them say what they want because I hate drama especially when I'm in it. Nick's dad is obviously a deadbeat and ignorant but he didn't seem homophobic (at least to me) so I guess that's a good thing. I can understand if someone would still want their parents around even if they were homophobic, because they're their parents so I'm sure it depends on the person. Great reaction!!
