Dunkirk! It’s one of my favorite movies to watch and it almost always makes me tear up when I watch it. Always have been a big Nolan head but I’d love for you to maybe do a video on it in the future. I’m not well educated to appreciate Nolan's films fully but you make learning things about film so easy and fun for me to understand. Anyways love your videos man you’ve gotten me into film keep up the great work.

Taking heavy inspiration from Blade Runner and other sci-fi classics it was filmed on location in New York and with somewhat well known actors.

2024-02-16 13:49:16 +0000 UTCIt's actually not a Japanese production, English is the original language as it's an American production (though it was animated by a French studio). I wouldn't really consider this anime; in one of the "Making of" videos, the producers talk about why it isn't really anime. It's kind of in the same vein as "Arcane". They took a very "live action" approach in regards to the camera and treating it like an actual object and the end result is just great. Maya Erskine, Brenda Song, George Takei, and Kenneth Branagh (yes, from Dunkirk and Oppenheimer) provide some absolute standout voice performances and really bring their characters to life in my opinion. But yeah, the original audio is English, so that's what I'd recommend

2024-02-16 07:31:00 +0000 UTCI would recommend the first episode of Blue Eye Samurai (well, really I'd recommend all of it, but one episode at a time, y'know?). It's an amazing show that just came out in November, and the Rotten Tomatoes score speaks for itself (96% audience rating). Netflix was so confident of its success (for good reason) that they put the entire first episode up on YouTube to view for free. It was honestly one of the best things I've seen, and it earned a spot in my top 10 shows all time. The animation, the story, the characters, everything about it is excellent and you can tell there was great passion that went into it. https://youtu.be/EjTIWhJ7gEE?si=xTSs0DSBbtgqX0wQ Here's a short video showcasing the "Making of" Blue Eye Samurai; I thought it was really neat that they choreographed all of the fights in live action before translating into the animation. They also made all of the animators take basic Martial Arts classes and basic sword practice so that they would better understand what it feels like to swing a sword. I think you would especially appreciate the hybrid live action workflow that they outline in that short "Making of" video above. Anyways, if you check it out, I think you would absolutely be enthralled. Plus I figured it'd be a suitable suggestion considering the naming convention of your Patreon tiers (Black Belt, etc).
