(EXCLUSIVE) FMR: HALO - [Fan Animation] - Remember by SODAZ

This took a little longer to get out due to editing around some of the missing audio but this video served its purpose which I discuss in the opening. I have now fixed my audio so going forward should be nice a crips! There are a few spots in the video where the microphone starts to drop in loudness but I've repaired them enough so you can hear what I'm saying. Mainly in my intro.

Enjoy the video! Kai

It looks like he hand animated the entire thing, go watch the credits. I can’t imagine how long that must’ve taken. That guy used to have a ton of 40K animations on his channel but he removed them, it’s kind of a shitty story. His animations were so popular that he was offered a job by the official Warhammer team (similar to the Astartes creator). He originally was going to accept the job but his “fans” harassed him so much for being a “sell out” that he ended up not taking the job, deleting all the Warhammer animations on his channel, and stopped making anything related to Warhammer. I think he almost quit animating entirely, but thankfully started making other videos.

I really liked how he tied it into the ending of Halo: Reach. They were basically the front line against the Covenant for the dry dock at the Aszod Shipbreaking facility. Seems like a lot of Spartan III's were sacrificed for Chief to get off planet safely. I agree a lot more could have been done to help the story of it and animation could have been a lot better but at the same time this is just one person. I'm as impressed as you are and you should check out the clips of the Fallout Fan Film they are making as well.

They're lines from the game? I'm surprised it did work then. Tbh, this is 90% an action reel.

So part of the reason the dialogue feels so off throughout as you pointed out was because 99% of it was taken from in game voice lines most of which were from Halo Reach. Which is why some of the Spartans voices change throughout or as you noticed the "writing" of it felt off at times. Which in my opinion is incredible that the story and scenes read as well as they do.

Depends on the style you want to shoot. You can always add them in post production, that would be a mask a 235.1 mask however you need to be filming a 16:9 image. I shoot 5120x2160 personally and so I have the black bars. Imax tends not to have them due to the large imagery but it does take away from the experience a little on normal TVs. This is the simplest way for me to explain it. I hope that helps.

I had completely forgotten about this, I remember seeing the previews he uploaded on YouTube! Regarding the lighting, I agree, it almost had a previs sort of look to it in my opinion. What aspect ratio do you use to get the black bars?
