Choose The Next Big Game!

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla is next and this will wrap up the God of War story. I will be covering the original trilogy but I can do that at the same time we check out our next big game.
I was completely blown away by God of War which was a PlayStation title... I want more of that please hence my choices below.

Seriously all top choices but would love to see last of us first then horizons, spider man or Tsushima. Love hearing your film talk, really like how you approached GoW and can’t wait to see how you like the game when you get around to playing it!

2024-12-01 00:15:07 +0000 UTCGood and valid reasons Kai, I get that. Never meant to say you *need* to have played the previous games. Valhalle does explain the neccessary stuff good enough. In my opinion it's just a generally better experience if you know the previous games. And there *will* be things that won't get explained or leave you confused without the context of said previous games. And some parts you won't (fully) understand, I think. You can watch Valhalla. Only wanted to say that, in my opinion, no matter how good of an experience Valhalla is without knowing all GoW games, it *is* a better experience if you know them.

2024-11-27 13:39:40 +0000 UTCAs someone who never played the old GOW games, i think Valhalla did a good job at explaining the relevant things that happened in Kratos past. But there is still something in Ragnarok that would be important to know before Valhalla. There is a new area in Nifelheim to explore after the main game is done. There are no cutscenes involved, but you should take a look at what is revealed in that area.

2024-11-27 11:34:52 +0000 UTCAs a modern consumer who's just purchased a PS5 (I haven't) I've just finished this epic game and now it has Free DLC. I want to see if they've made it in a way for me, can I understand it even though I've not played the previous titles. A customer shouldn't have to play a previous title to enjoy a newer one so to speak. Granted I won't understand all of it but there will be something for me and for the fans of the series. From a marketing perspective, I'm hoping they've used this DLC as fan service but also to sell me (a new God of War customer) the previous games. This is how my brain works, not from a gamer perspective.

2024-11-27 11:27:34 +0000 UTCThough choices, all are good picks. But are you sure you want to continue with Valhalla right away, *before* covering the previous GoW games? I believe it would be better to wait at least until you checked out GoW 1-3, if not all 6 previous GoW games altogether.

2024-11-27 11:02:08 +0000 UTCCertainly did put in my vote! It would be a strange pick for film analysis due to the limited cutscenes, but if you ever get an itch for an interesting story with great voice acting: the Metal Gear Solid series is a great dive into all things Hideo Kojima.
