I'm guessing only one party can pick each location, so going down the stairs earlier will let you pick before others as "good placement". It seems like the trap here is either picking populated places, undefensible locations, or resource deficient places.

I say eastern Europe. If it's 4x, then Constantinople/Istanbul is literally invaluable as a defensive/ resource/trade location. If it's mythology, then most of the local horrors can at least be bargained with.

Well the bossifacation of former friends and lovers has to take place somewhere. I think our hero’s need a vacation. Hurricane force winds won’t bide well for our fluffy friend so islands, not so much. Giant bugs from jungles. Nope. Lamas? Not again. Monstrous lions of Africa? Too foreseeable. A city scape. High rise buildings would be a major change from 2D areas. Imagine Spider-Carl swinging building to building all while shouting, “God Dammit Donut!”

Okay, theory about what we're voting on here: With the showrunners trying to zero out the top 50 and replace everything to make it their own, plus the unusually high death toll thus far, I think they're trying to bring in new blood to keep the crawl alive with a limited time and location offer to the surface humans to enter the dungeon with extra bonuses. Every crawler gets to place a portal somewhere on the globe. This doesn't seem mean enough to be correct though.

Prompt mentioned no picking uninhabited areas - I’m think base-building or 4X or something. Oceania seemed isolated enough to not have tons of competition, but big enough that conquering all of it would be worthwhile, and have the respurces to start working on the rest of the world.

if i had to gues id say its a base builder. So i wuld chose something with a lot of resorces (Wood,Stone,Eiron) and somwthing to sell (Gems, Oil, etc.) I wuld go with Afrika, Asia or Europe.

Funny how many chose Caribbean, I myself only chose it because I had to think about the movie and cause it's apparently a nice holiday spot XD. So, choosing a place through the eyes of someone of the people I'm watching to fighr and die(figuratively) muahaha, I already feel like one of those streaming spectators. Too bad we cannot bet on the outcome of who dies how and when, like they do.

Since Borant seasons of Dungeoncrawler World are fantasy based, maybe region means which type of folklore monsters are based on? So Carribbean would mean voodoo monsters, etc…. If so, first choice EU, then second choice Romainia would mean vampires, which our two friends now are immune to… (at least the vampirism part, not the cunning, strength and celerity of course)
