Workstation upgrade update! 2

Things are going a bit slower than I wanted. ._. Just a little bit. We'll get to building the thing during this weekend.

YAY

So anyway, the photo. So much beauty. ;v;

Allow me to introduce, from left to right:

And that's your lot! I also replaced my 15-year-old keyboard and 10-year-old mouse a few months ago. They were literally falling apart. XD The replacements - Asus Strix Tactic Pro keyboard, and Func MS-3 R2 mouse - both have programmable macro keys, which really speeds up some tedious processes (not to mention the incredible ergonomy of the mouse).

DID I SAY "THANK YOU" ENOUGH TIMES YET?

HINT: OF COURSE NOT

ONCE MORE, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS UPGRADE A THING! ;A;

When I was searching for GPU's I was looking at guaranteed working openbox/brokenbox prices. I ended up spending quite a bit less for a 980ti. I even had 2 different instances where one was selling for around $260. But someone was always one step faster than me. But I read your comment saying GPU's weren't as important. What you got is more than helpful based off that 560 you used to have.

Ah, I see, yeah they are very evenly matched, I look at as many review sites as possible. AMD has had issues with power consumption. And wow really? a GPU is not that important in doing the sexy 3D work you post here? I never would have guessed that lol

I use this site to compare computer parts. As you can see, there's not much of a difference; the 390X being slightly faster, but noisier and less power-efficient (also note, that's a regular Asus GTX980, not the OC edition being compared there). I guess my Radeon prejudice stands on solid grounds. XD 8GB of VRAM is really something tho! However, for my work specifically, a GPU is not very important, it just helps with workflow efficiency. What matters most in offline 3D is the CPU and RAM.

Oooohh I see, lol. Yeah, No doubt the integrated GPU was crap, they all are XD I'm just curious how a 390X would perform compared to the 980 at the things you do is all :3 regardless it is a huge improvement over that crappy old GTX 560 lol

SexyTurian69

Thank you! :D Can't wait to run it! ;A;

That is a Beast Computer!! Congratulations!

I honestly can't remember. XD I started buying the parts around February I think, so memory for details fades. But I'm estimating it was over $2000! Crazy! ;A; SO WORTH IT THO SO VERY WORTH IT

tchaikovsky2

Hah, I wish! Nah, I was looking at the prices for GTX980Ti - they're much more expensive, and I'm guessing a 1060 would be twice as expensive as a 980Ti. XD I can't easily afford that kind of thing - YET. C:

No idea, but this isn't the ordinary 980 - it's from the Strix gaming series, so it's definitely better than any other 980 (except for 980Ti, which was too expensive for me). That Radeon sounds pretty great! But I was never a fan of Radeons. In fact, the integrated GPU I'm temporarily using is a Radeon, and I'm very unsatisifed with it. XD Not so much the obviously low performance, but it just renders stuff differently. Especially shadows. They seem to lack surface angle culling. I dunno.

Sooooooooon. C:

wow, i am so jealous right now... how much did all of this cost? o.0

Talyn2323

BeastMode computer. Love that orange case. Looks purdy! You could have waited one more month and got the 1060. 😣

Randochi

Sweet setup man! I'm curious if the 980 has graphics features the Radeon 390X does not have, I bought a 390X recently for about the same price as a 980, and is slightly faster in most cases, and has 8GB of VRAM to boot.
