It is Not possible to Launch Games from ES-DE into retroarch plus. Everything ist Setup correctly: Rompaths, cores within retroarch... The Games start without Problems if i Launch them within retroarch directly. But when i Launch them from ES-DE retroarch Boots Up into a black Screen. Nothing more. When I am trying to Launch Games from daijisho into retroarch everything works as expected. And this Frontend is for free in Playstore... Pixel 7 Pro

Hi, as mentioned in the ES-DE documentation and the Patreon tier description you need a device running 64-bit Android 10 or later to run ES-DE. Unfortunately regular Android TV is a very crippled operating system, there is no SAF support and Google has even removed the SAF directory picker so it's a pretty useless platform for emulation. And ES-DE really likes at least 4 GB of RAM to run well and you can't even have that on a 32-bit operating system. There are however two custom 64-bit Android TV devices that work with ES-DE (could be more that we are not aware of) where SAF support is included. I am an old retropie user who loved the emulation station and wanted to have it on Android. I bought this in hopes for it to work on my Android TVs. I have multiple different Android TV and worked on none. After being unable to install it, I decided to see if it would work on my phone which also didn't work. So not sure what this runs on. I am sure I could build a separate Android box but then I could just do that with RetroPie. I switched to Android TV so i could run Kodi without firestick or raspberri pi and would like to do the same with Emulation Station. I read about daijishou so tried to install and that installed so it is possible to run on Android TV. I do not want to go trhough the trouble to learn that one as i feel nothing is better then emulation station. Is there plans to later make it work on android TV? i could care less if it never runs on phones but guess if it runs on android tv it would also run on phones.

I’ve installed es-do on my rg556 which is working well in most cases. I seem to have a problem with stand-alone emulators psx and ps2 plus few others. They all work within the emulators but just hang with a black screen when run.from em-do. I’ve checked the core is the duck station standalone in the setup menu of em-de. Can anybody help..

Hi, no need to use a separate app to set ES-DE as your home app. Importing native Android apps and games into ES-DE still requies a separate app, although a built-in import tool is planned for a future release. I’m having issues getting PS2 games to launch when opening them from ES-DE but not directly from NetherSX I get an error message but can’t read the whole thing. Any ideas? Also if I set it as the home app, is there an appdrawer menu I can reach from within ES-DE? Edit: Found the answer to my home applications question in the Android documentation

This is a great frontend, easily the best looking and most streamlined once all set up and you are doing a great job adding new features. The one issue holding me back from switching is the scrapping support. About a 1/4th of my library does not get scraped or is missing various media (Such a boxart, title images or descriptions). For comparison, with Daijishō it finds around 95% of my titles with at least proper boxart. The two default scrapers of ES-DE seem to lack data on certain titles especially on systems such as the Vita and Switch. It would be great to be able to add additional scrapers manually (for example SteamgridDB) instead of having to frequently download and add box art and game descriptors which is a very time consuming process.

Hi, happy to hear that you appreciate ES-DE! Unfortunately DeX support is problematic as Samsung doesn't allow apps that can be set as the home app to run via DeX. This is not an ES-DE issue as there is nothing preventing ES-DE from working with DeX, instead it's a Samsung policy problem. The only way to make DeX work would be to completely remove the home app functionality, and that was one of the most requested features so I'm not really keen on doing that.

Hey man enjoying the frontend is great i love how it looks , just have a question , I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and i used to play on Samsung Dex mode with the frontend but recently it says the app was designed to run on a phone so wouldn't let me open it you think you can fix that on a future update ?

Is direct launching scummvm titles on standalone ScummVM supported? I have tried with directories named like 'monkey2.scummvm' and text files similarly named and containing the game shortname. This works for Retroarch core, but standalone just launches into the ScummVM menu UI.

Is there a way to specify "Fallback Media Type" for ROMs? This would address the use case in which your theme is looking for media that isn't present – but another fallback media type is (e.g. box art, physical media, etc).

Hello. I get an error message saying "There was a problem parsing the package" on my Retroid Pocket 2+. I can install fine on my phone though. Any clue on what the problem may be?

No that's not planned, it's almost only Android TV devices which are using a 32-bit operating system and these won't work with ES-DE anyway as they lack SAF support. This also means they can't run most modern emulators. And besides ES-DE doesn't run well on devices with less than 4 GB of RAM so 32-bit operating systems would be pretty unusable due to that reason as well.

Hello I just downloaded ES I have the anbernic rg556 and I use both my internal and sd card for my roms but I can't figure out how to add another pathway to use my sd card, it only had be create and use a rom folder during the setup can someone help me with info on how to be able to use my sd card as well that has my other games. Is it possible to add an option to not scan new games every time you open ES-DE? It takes 1-2 minutes to open without any need, as the games are the same every day. No need to rescan the same 50,000 roms every day.
