5.1 - Dakota ex Machina

It's been a helluva week for development, in a good way. I thought I'd drop off a small update due to the new milestone I just reached!

What milestone? Well, basically, I've finished writing all of Dakota's content for the patch! Yep, she's done! With that mountain of writing out of the way, I can now focus on the smaller, rolling hills of writing in front of me. Here's basically what's left:

• Add office events for coworkers, around 2-3 each
• Update basic system events like add the PC, rework early dream events, fix mirror event, etc.
• Update serum system
• Add missing images

Not too bad, right? Oh, and of course test the hell out of it... So, I should touch on that last bullet real quick. Right now, we're looking at about 64 new images being added in the next patch, and that's not even factoring in what has to be added after writing in the office events. As such, it's almost guaranteed that 5.1 will clock in at over a GB. As such, starting with 5.1, I'll be slightly changing up the distribution of the game.

• The HTML file will no longer be included with the large archive files, and instead will only be available to download separately.
• Image Pack 1 will include all "current" content needed to play the game up to Alpha 5.0.2, and will not include the HTML file
• Image Pack 2 will include all additional content needed for 5.1.0, and will not include the HTML file.

This is how I'll be handling the game moving forward, and there will be a very basic check when you start the game to ensure you have all needed image packs. Of course, you could always play the browser version and not download anything!

Again, I can't promise any kind of release date, but the initial projection of "within the next couple of weeks" and "definitely before December" are looking really good!
