Dev Blog #67 - Break/Fix

Greetings everyone!

Is April over yet? Man I could really use April being over right about now... It's a complete whirlwind in my personal life right now with no chance of calming down until this month is over and all I want to do is sit down and write smut!!!

*ahem*

Anyway, status report!

Staying the Course

Like I said a couple weeks ago, there's really not a ton to talk about here as it's really just writing at this point. We're still looking at the last week of April to release 6.1 to backers before a followup public release, though if that changes I'll be sure to let everyone know. Additionally, backers coming from 6.0.4 should not be required to start a new game, though it's still recommended in order to see the new content correctly.

More Stuff

Update 6.1 will be bringing about a number of backend changes in terms of how conversations, events, notes, and other cataloged components are handled. There are a number of inefficiencies in the code as a result of my inexperience with the language. Now, those little messes are starting to pile up and it's time to clean house! Penny's conversation handling will be the first step into this new system and if everything goes as planned, no one should notice a difference! After 6.1 releases, the remaining characters and events will be brought up to code as well, so to speak. This is also a big step into the next new initiative: Better save file migration.

Trust me, I know full well that most peoples' biggest frustration with The Company is having to start their games over whenever a new update comes out. While some major updates simply can't avoid this, 6.1 should make these situations much less frequent. Unfortunately, anyone coming from the public 6.0.2 release will have to start a new game, but moving forward this should seldom be the case!

Less Stuff

A bit of unfortunate news here. I had hoped to demo the dynamic comments system in update 6.1, however, a handful of bugs are cropping up and I've decided to scale that demo back for this update. Characters will still comment on clothes and transformations, but that will be about it. The issues aren't critical, but fixing them would almost surely mean delaying the 6.1 update.

The complete comment system is still expected to ship with the 6.2 (John) update later this year.

Finally, due in one part to my hectic personal schedule over the next 10 days as well as my efforts to get the update ready to launch in time, next week's development blog will be much less "blog" and much more "status update". I'm letting everyone know now in the hopes of easing the disappointment at the lack of post content next week.

That's it for this week, I hope everyone's looking forward to the update! As always, thank you all for your continued feedback and support!

Westane

Will there be a sequel after this game?

Jeffrey witte

Just how certain are you? :)

Westane

In the pics folder there are gifs in Ava's folder with the title Pit, I am fairly certain that currently we cannot bring her to the pit, will it be an option in the future? or are they related to a bad end or something?
