The Midnight Channel Progress Update

Hey Everyone, hope you are all doing well!

I didn't write up any kind of progress update on monday, and I didn't realise until today!

I think this is because I keep using the discord to write out my thoughts and talk about what I'm curently working on. If you guys want a more play-by-play of my daily activities, the discord is good for that.

Regardless, I just wanted to reiterate that The Midnight Channel is going through it's storyline changes, and with that I'm making backend programming cahnges too. All of these are huge improvements from what I had before and I'm really hoping the results speak for themselves.

Some notable features that help out my development but also create a more interesting gameplay environment are :

• Portraits Doubling up in Dialog screens

• Music changing during dialog

• Multiple character interactions in the SAME room

• Same character interactions in DIFFERENT rooms! (not tied ot a specific room now)

• Changeable days/times for charcaters on screen at ANY moment (For Character Schedules)

• Referenced Popup windows and menu management

• Standardized GUI and inventory management

And loads more that really would tkae me a bit to explain and is only really quality of life improvements for myself while programming.

Also, on top of all of this, you have most likely noticed the improved artstyle to the game. I'm proud to say that I have found an artstyle I'm really enjoying, and it's really the amalgamation of ALL of my previous work. These versions of the characters are quickly becomming my favorites, so I"m happy to share them with you as I change the sprites over.

I would also like to say that I"m trying to focus heavy on gameplay this time around, to make sure that I'm not cutting-corners in order to get out the next SScene or girl available in-game ot you all. I think it's pretty obvious to all of us (includingme) that my development on this will continue at a steady pace with small increments over time. So because of this, my main mission statement to myself, is to ensure I'm doig right by the material. This means I'm trusting Sakaki and Myself to deliver things that (we hope) the characters would actually say and do in this universe.
