patreon

Discord?

So if I made one what would be the point, I don't discord a lot so I don't know the details.

And should it be patreon only or public? or is there a way to give privileges to some people and not others?

Gimme another discord where I can spam you with [my] boobies

Yeah you can have the whole discord server be private or have public channels and patron only channels.

it would be neat to be in one at least ^_^

The main point is, do you want all your fans in one spot to chat with and to watch them chat with each other...if you don't, there is next to no point XD

I mean, yeah

You can give privilege's to people for differing roles and such i dont know about skype but discord can be pretty efficient with enough work done.

I'd gladly follow your discord, like all the previous statements here say. It is good to have :)

Thanks for the help guys, I'll sneakily slide into a server or 2 and get a feel for what other people do, maybe grab some friends to help set something up for myself. Mainly just to reach out to followers and patrons more easily.

Discord is a good tool for being an easily accessible gallery for your patreon content. You can set up image only threads for certain roles that you can put all your stuff without clutter. Its excellent for having control on what kinds of people join or allowed to do within, with a simple kick feature for misbehaviors.

A good bit's been covered already: Patreon bot to auto-handle granting roles specific to your server, you can set up roles in various ways, etc. Aside from that: * Roles can be set such that privileges trickle up, so you set lowest privilege capabilities, then next privilege up you want able to do differently, set that role and that particular ability, and everything else can be kept as "default". * Individual chat channels can be grouped into "categories," and you can set the privileges for an entire "category," so perhaps you could have a patron-only category. * Individual chat channels can be set to have more specific privileges (with "default" being whatever the category's settings are) if you want to get that specific. May not hurt to get 1 other person you trust, invite them to the server before it's ready, and experiment with granting / taking away their privilege roles, going "Okay, I set X, what do you see?" or such, depending on how particular you want to get.

Joining other communities first isn't a bad idea, I might give that some thought to get a sense of what the deal is

Discord is a great way to foster a community. I am an admin and mod on several servers if you need any help. But I love the idea!

From someone with a Patrons only and a public discord, I'd say you probably only need the one public server, and yes, you can have a patrons only channel that contains rewards. If you link Patreon to your discord, it invites a bot that can then manage permissions. As it is, my patrons-only discord only sees occasional activity when people feel like chatting or there's an update. My public discord's become a moderately popular destination and there's lots of rooms for people to share art or talk enthusiastically about kinky stuff they're into. It *is* extra work... (though you'll probably get plenty of people happy to moderate which takes a lot of the burden off) but handy for building a network of contacts, commissioners and buddies for times when you're not drawing. Go for it if you like the idea of being the big dog... but I imagine people will be equally happy to see you in plenty of the other large hypno discord servers (like CovertHypnotism)

The point of it is to interact with the community generally. Moderates for a few YouTube peeps and it can vary from sitting in the general talking to once a month short appearances really depends but overall it’s so fans can interact with other fans and possibly the content creator in a setting centered around them or their work.

So discord can give you better interaction with your patrons and fans of your content in general, I for one am more vocal and give better feedback on there as opposed to here. You can make the server public then make a role specifically for patrons, then you can make certain channels only available to patrons.

Patreon has a bot that can automatically give people access to a server when they become a patron, and it can assign roles that can be used to lock down access to certain channels so those can be exclusive. I'm a mod in a few servers and I've got my own with Patreon integration, so if you need someone to help you set things up I'm more than happy to help.

Yeah with roles you can do all sorts of stuff with privilages. Like you can make it so people can see a channel, talk in it, but not post pics or videos (i.e. for a channel that's only your art and comments on it)

Samuel

There is a way to give privileges to some and not to others and there’s a bot called Patreon bot that automatically gives a Patreon role to people that have their Patreon and discord linked (and are patreons) so it’s possible to have stuff only for patreons and stuff only for the public and so on and so forth as you can make many roles with many perms.
