Patreon Release "Complete Collection" - Vasselheim

"Vasselheim" is just a way for us to track our release ! FoundryVTT version v02.6

Dear patrons !

Issue with downloads should be resolved, all links are available below. See the EDIT at the bottom of the post for more info โค๏ธ

Toll the dead has come a long way from the concept we originally came up with ! We're happy about the result. And thanks to your suggestions, we split the animation into three distinct parts to be used for other effects. Here's a little gif of the complete animation :

Detect magic was a bit of a challenge to conceptualize as there can be many ways to interpret the visual of the spell. We wanted a nice-looking, soft, slow pulse akin to a "radar blip" but more "magicky-looking". ๐Ÿ˜

We added an extra cone-shaped version to allow for more flexibility in creating macros for the effect. For example, it could be a smaller wave bouncing off a creature or object back to the caster. Wasp has already come up with a macro with the sequencer module that is available in our Discord server !
We also found a good system to build magic circles so we created one for all schools of magic (with colour variations for each) and added in all the corresponding isolated runes (for each school as well).

You'll soon realize how many assets were added to this release ! It does add up to the size of our module !

On the subject of our module size and ease of access. After many considerations and unconclusive experiments on Itch Io, the new way forward to access our module is with a manifest link for Foundry VTT users, a dropbox link with all of our assets and another optional dropbox link for a differential update containing only the newly added assets for those who already have the content of our previous release.
Instructions and manifest link below.

It's almost been a year since we first started our Patreon page. What a journey this has been already ! Thank you all for your support, positivity, kind comments, suggestions and feedback.
We hope you'll enjoy our assets.

How to access our JB2A content :

  1. Complete Collection
    • Foundry users
      1. Copy the following manifest link : https://www.dropbox.com/s/4bmh3fukp8rtji5/module.json?dl=1

DISCLAIMER : Please do not share this link with anyone.

      1. Open FoundryVTT and navigate to the Add-on/Modules tab
      2. click on "Install module"
      3. Paste the link into the Manifest URL box at the bottom
      4. You'll see a download/progress bar at the bottom. When this is finished, the module is ready to be activated in your world.
    • Forge users
      • Uninstall our free module and install our premium patreon module in the Forge bazaar as usual.
Your assets will be in "The Bazaar" tab. If you want to toy with macros, although the link to the assets appear to have a number assigned to them, macros will function with the "modules/jb2a_patreon/" path like shown in our example macros in our compendium. KaKaRoTo is a wizard !

    ๐Ÿง™

    • Other VTT users
      • Download a zip file containing all of our assets from Dropbox here : HERE
Extract the zip file and find the 'Library' folder. It contains all of our assets.
  2. Only the new stuff
    • If you already have a previous release installed, we now provide a differential update of only the new assets available to download from this Dropbox link : HERE
Once downloaded and extracted, you can drag the jb2a_patreon folder straight into your Foundry's module folder and overwrite all. Overwriting here is important as you need the new module.json for the module to be recognized by Foundry.

Happy gaming everyone !

EDIT :

After a lot of research into finding an efficient way to share our content with you, we have a few alternatives in mind that hopefully won't require too much coding to set up ! ๐Ÿ˜…
AWS (Amazon Web Services) would be quite pricey in our particular case. We have been suggested Digital Ocean and Wasabi that coulp potentially resolve our issues.
For now, we're sticking with Dropbox as it should cover us for the next couple of releases without a hitch, as long as everybody doesn't download the file all at once ! ๐Ÿคž
Thank you all for your patience, your kind comments, suggestions, and for being so supportive !

By the way, the Patrons-exclusive Poll is up in our Discord server ! โค๏ธ

Comments

No actually, I'll look into it. thanks.

JB2A

Have you considered usng a torrent?

Neutral Aid

Yes, we looked at it. Thing is, FoundryVTT doesn't do differential updates yet for modules. It deletes everything, downloads the zip and extracts it. Which means in our case that for each user, 2GB needs to be downloaded (not entirely true because some people will still use our own differential update and Forge downloads the zip once for all of its users). So if you do a very rough math, 1800 x 2GB means we need 3.6TB of bandwidth per release. AWS would cost a lot. It's 0.085$ per GB downloaded above 50GB so would cost 300$ per release. That's a bit pricey ๐Ÿ˜…. Dropbox actually would work the best in the short term. Then maybe a solution like Digital Ocean... we'll continue the search. Thanks for the suggestion though, we appreciate it !

JB2A

Have you considered storing in an AWS S3 bucket?

Tigon

Thanks, hopefully it will be resolved soon ! โค๏ธ

JB2A

Appreciate the MAB links! sorry about the hosting issues!

Daniel Chapman

We have updated the post with the two new temporary links that will let you download the pack. We have exceeded the Dropbox bandwidth limit and the links will be blocked for 24 hours. We'll also need to find an alternative to both Discord and MyAirBridge (our temporary solution). Sorry about that.

JB2A

Strange, I'm getting a 404 error on dropbox page on all the Dropbox links. I'm able to reach other Dropbox links from the same PC. I'm not sure what's going on.

Franck Florentin

We have been blocked by Dropbox because of a bandwidth limit. This will be lifted in 24 hours but will probably be a problem again. We are investigating for an alternative service in the meantime. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

JB2A

Are all future updates going to be routed through the dropbox link? My initial install went fine, but later I ran a check for updates for my modules and when it got to yours it gave me an error saying the link did not provide a valid manifest file.

Mike Hines

This time the issue seems to be coming from dropbox. We're investigating. Thank you for letting us know and for your patience โค๏ธ

JB2A

Nope. NOW it is fixed ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

JB2A

We made a mistake and were trying to be clever about it ๐Ÿ˜…. It is fixed now though hopefully !

JB2A

We realized this too late but it's fixed now. Sorry about that and thank you for letting us know !

JB2A

Way easier now with this update on foundry! Thanks a lot!

Marcel Alpiste

Is the link for only the new stuff in this release broken; or am I not understanding how to use it?

Steve Reed

The "new stuff" link seems to only contain an empty .txt file

David Stoddard

Thanks for the diff update option!
