Chapter 133 - Present - Zach
Added 2020-07-03 05:17:51 +0000 UTCHey guys, I just wanted to ask any of you who haven't yet left a review or a rating on Royal Road, if you could just jump on and drop a rating or a short review. The story dropped from around rank 32 to 71 in the last few days. Some of that can be from the fact that we switched to Zach for this volume, but I've also seen a few reviews that really look like they've been written by people that had just skimmed through some chapters (the last review talks about a dwarf that uses skills, which... there are no dwarves in the story). And there had been some 1 and 0.5 star ratings in quick succession that are a bit suspect and make me think that the story might've been review bombed a bit. I do get bad ratings from time to time, but this bunch came all at the same time and in between chapter releases (most ratings come after new chapter release). An advanced review has the most benefit, but if you don't have the time just a rating will do. I would appreciate it a lot if you could help me out!

I can imagine Ryun just dismissing Zac and telling him to go away, only to have Zac immediately attack and try to seal Ryuns skills again. Ryun activates |Perfect Cut|, tells Zac “not this time!” and then promptly chops his head off. Ahhh one can dream...

2020-07-04 22:00:07 +0000 UTCActually the key might be reshuffling the chapters for the kindle version. I think the biggest flaw is the chapter disparity. We still don’t really have a full picture of Zachs side of the story. If you could somehow either add more of Zachs past to the first volume. Or maybe expand on Zachs talk with the warden commander and explain in more detail why Zach feels the needs to kill Ryun. Or maybe discuss some of the pain he went through dealing with Ryuns rampage and the loss of his daughter. I know some stuff might be spoilers but I think you can foreshadow it without blatantly saying it. I know a lot of people once they read Zachs past chapter when he first talks to Ryun started to ease up on Zach and see his side of the story. That and you kinda made Ryun way more exciting to read than Zach so far at least. I guess that could be another issue majority of the people reading your story don’t have the patience to see your vision all the way through before judging.

Though I do want you to strongly consider that maybe you have already identified why you seem to be catching bad reviews… people seem to want to read about Ryun way more than Zach. Zach is a fine character, and I think there is good story in there. The problem is that Ryun exists in the same story universe and I would *much rather* get back to Ryun and his new sect. Even just having him in the back ground with a perspective through Anrosh, Reyla, or Nayra is infinitely more exciting to me. In a way, I kinda hope that Zach just dies or meets Ryun already so this whole arc ends.

2020-07-03 12:39:05 +0000 UTCI'm actually doing the editing for the kindle version, so maybe I'll try and get on there when I finish that. That will clean up a few things and clarify others. I'm even thinking about shuffling some past chapters around. Also I'll probably have my new website up and I could host the story there better. So once I get up on top web fiction I could funnel new readers to my website instead of to RR. Maybe interest some in my other books that way.
