Uncle Buck Full Movie Reaction!

With John Candy alone I knew we'd love this movie, but Macaulay Culkin as well was such a solid surprise as well! Also, we've officially hit 200+ full reaction on the Patreon; it's insane to think we've watched that many movies LOL.

I second The Great Outdoors. It's absolutely hilarious. I love it so much. How can you go wrong with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd?

This is one of my favorite John Candy films! It's so funny and he is at his best, another great one for him is The Great Outdoors. The thing I really enjoy about this character was how quickly he agreed to helping them out. You could say he saw his opportunity to make up an excuse to not come into work but I didn't really see that. He immediately agreed with no hesitation and I don't think he really had time to think about, he even offered to have the kids stay with him. Also I love how quickly he starts to become responsible, he didn't go into this thinking he was just going to be lazy until they returned. He woke up and made breakfast, sure they didn't like it but the good intention was there and he made sure they were going to school, he didn't forget Miles' birthday and he was always doing fun stuff with them and he right away was on Tia tail when he really didn't have to, it showed he really cared about them. My favorite scene though is when he's conflicted about going to the track, I think it's a very well acted scene and you really feel his struggle, they didn't go into it very much because it's a comedy but in that moment you really see that he's had this addiction for a long time and probably his big reason why he's so broke and doesn't want a job. I think he really saw how desperate he had become by taking two young children with him. I always wished though they gave more of a reason why Tia was so angry, I know she had her problems but that didn't excuse how she treated Buck, he didn't bring her there, he was there helping them out. In the beginning of the film she looked like she was dreading taking care of the two so why was so upset about, that just meant she didn't have to do it. And what she did was awful and he deserved a little more of an apology. And a great fun fact this was Macaulay Culkin's first movie and the scene where he's sitting by the door is what made John Hughes pretty much come up with Home Alone, he had him picked out for that role from the very start, he didn't need to audition, of course they had to audition kids anyways but he always knew it was going to be him. I'm assuming you've seen Home Alone already but if not I recommend that one for Christmas! He's great in this, the back and for between Buck and him at the table is comedy gold!
