2022-10-23 03:14:23 +0000 UTCI love this one, it's not as good as the first but for a sequel it's a good one. I like the commentary on sequels. A lot of people were so upset that Randy got killed off me included but they needed to establish that anyone could die, they had to kill off a popular character especially one from the first film, they needed an emotional death, I believe that's why they killed Tatum from the first film too. Randy has always been the character that flat out tells you, like he did by bringing up Mrs. Loomis from Friday The 13th and also in the first film in the video store he said that Sydney's dad was going to show up in the last reel which he did. If the killers seem a bit too obvious that's mostly because the original script which actually revealed to have 3 killers got stolen and leaked to the internet so they had to scrap the whole script and that was including the killers. I personally love Mickey as a killer, one of my favorites mostly because he seems like most psychotic, to me he feels like a good mix between Billy and Stu, the craziness of Billy but a bit of comedy like Stu. I think bringing in Billy's mom was a great twist and I like that prior to the reveal they never show Sydney and Debbie in remotely the same scene, she obviously knew to stay far away from her so she wouldn't recognize her. I also really like Gale's character growth, she is being her usually selfish self in the beginning but she really comes around, I think it truly started turning for her when Randy died, another reason his death was important and by the end she ditches her entire broadcast to go with Dewey, she didn't even think twice. And of course Dewey is great and you see his growth as well. There are so really great intense scenes in this one like Gale's chase and the car scene. A great fun fact, Derrik was played for Jerry O'Connel, you may remember him from Stand By Me, he was Vern! Also in the first film they are talking about who would play Sydney if they ever made a movie and she joked that it would be Tori Spelling and sure enough she's playing her in Stab, lol. That whole enactment from the first film is so funny, from the overacting and even the dialog is even more cringy then the first film. The film makers were not shy about making fun of themselves.
