CURTIS FACES HIS FEAR POLL!

Hey patreon homies, this is yours truly Curtis this time around I've decide to create a poll to face my greatest fear. Musicals, choose which film I fight for my life watching for this upcoming Monday movie.

For real, it took forever to even pick this list based on stuff that might interest Curtis; his dislike of musicals is so strong that I think this might have been the hardest poll choices we've ever made lol. We don't like to stay comfortable, we like doing different even if it's something we might not be all that crazy about!

Curtis, Grease with John Travolta is a musical. Have you seen that? Not all musicals have frilly songs. I can think of a few songs in Grease with lyrics that would make you laugh.

Tara

One that actually says is a musical, but is quite good: Cannibal: The Musical. It was made by Trey Parker & Matt Stone pre-South Park.

Thomas Santillan

This is one I want to do.

Octokrool

What power?

Emily Gray

I don't know if it's a musical, though it does have some musical numbers in it, I think that you'd like "Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny". It's a comedy and the music is actually good (assuming you enjoy Tenacious D's style of music).

Thomas Santillan

Labyrinth, it's NOT a musical, just has a few musical numbers. But you will LOVE David Bowie. This is my vote. Rocky Horror by itself is fun, but the experience with just the movie alone will have you scratching your head unless you go to a live experience. Sweeney Todd you will probably like, as it's super dark. La La Land is that feel good happy musical. Honorable mention is Reefer Madness. You'd love that one. Hilarious, and all about Marijuana.

Firekrys FWO

YES! I'd be all for this!

Firekrys FWO

The Wiz

Dorena Muglo

Oof! This is a tough list. I like old-school musicals (and I mean OLD), and find current broadway-style musicals to be tedious and uniform in sound and design. Labyrinth is a tough one if you don't have a young daughter who is in love with David Bowie! : D Sweenie Todd at least has the benefit of a cast of great actors who are decent singers - rather than a cast of professional singers who emote rather than act. It's also over-the-top gruesome, which is fun.

Labyrinth Is my childhood.

Michelle York

What babe the babe with the power.

colleen crossley

You forgot: Cannibal: The Musical (also by Trey Parker & Matt Stone).

Thomas Santillan

music man!! has been stuck in my head for a week and i haven't seen the film or play in years!

Good reactors can get me to watch movies I actively hate, because I like seeing what they have to say about them

Rhetorical Thrill

because they have a varied audience who does and they themselves want to try something different. if they absolutely truly didn't want to do it then they wouldn't. but from what i've seen of their channel over the time i've been here, they like to explore other movies and genres they might not have picked on their own in the past. and i think that's awesome!

emily ღ

You remind me of the babe...

Rhetorical Thrill

Musicals make my head hurt. Sound of Music has Nazis, so that would be my choice.

Kevin Ehle

Need to add for future polls (in order of year): The Music Man (1962), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Grease (1978), Hair (1979), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), Moulin Rouge (2001), and Chicago (2002).

Eric

Labrynth is a great movie, but....something about it just tells me it won't be your thing. I hope I'm wrong though.

Cifer

I'm not a huge musical fan either, but Rocky Horror Picture Show will change your life. If it doesn't win this poll I would pay for you to do it, just name your price. Seriously, it's a legendary movie. It holds the "unofficial record" for longest running movie in theaters. In small theaters across the US it's played every single day, somewhere, since release. Even during covid, there were a few theaters who showed it without a crowd just to keep the streak going. Not many movies have such a dedicated cult following to make that happen.

Cifer

I saw Rocky Mountain horror picture show when I was like eight years old dude 😂 I saw it live.. it was frightening but funny

Nizate

Labyrinth. If you don't like musicals, this is a great one to watch. You may even forget it is one. A true classic, dance magic dance 🎶🎶🎶

Margaret Wagner

Get ready for the magic dance.

Jon

Because other people enjoy it.

Emily G

You missed out on two of the best movie musicals Chicago and Moulin Rouge!! I really hope you two consider one of those for a future watch. I think you’d be pleasantly surprised ❤️

Emily G

I'm right there with ya so I won't watch any of these. Zero interest. No idea why you'd want to waste time on stuff you already know you won't like.

bnut

Clearly, the best musical is Team America - World Police.. or South Park - The Movie

Gunnar Rea

Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) is hilarious with great music.

Angela Graves

I'm not really big into musicals myself. There's only a few I like. I think for this list you'd probably like all but La La Land. I'd also recommend The Greatest Showman. Many people who didn't like musicals enjoyed that one. You might like it. Musicals are one of those genres where people have very specific tastes when it comes to which ones they like. You guys will probably prefer the weird/darker musicals over more traditional ones

Katie Jackson

You can’t go wrong with David Bowie!!

Annie519

I agree on the Sweeny Todd too, I think those guys would love it. Classic musicals are the ones that typically are cringey to me with only the exception of Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang because of the fantasy sequences. But hey, "to each their own". Basically you never know till ya try.

Dernhelm

I'm not sure I'd call Labyrinth a true musical, it's mainly a showcase for one particular artist, BUT it's one of my favorites of all time. I think even if you don't like it you'll enjoy the weirdness 🤣

Rhetorical Thrill

lmao as an avid musical fan, we don't talk about la la land lmao! i adore musicals but much prefer classics like sound of music, my fair lady, oklahoma, etc. even hair spray was a bit too much for me though i still love it. i think out of this list, they'd like sweeney todd a lot! or at least be pleasantly surprised by how much they don't dislike it lol

emily ღ

I am not much of a fan of musicals either and there have been very few that I have not cringed at. However among the few that I have loved have been Labyrinth, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Sweeney Todd. LaLa Land on the other hand is cringe AF.

Dernhelm

same!! i think they'd enjoy sweeney todd most from this list. i still hope one day we can get some old school ones. i'd love to see a reaction to something like sound of music someday. a classic. but sweeney todd would be a good "balance" of different genres to kind of dip their toe into the water.

emily ღ

Seven brides for seven brothers Kiss me Kate Dangerous when wet Neptune's daughter

Heather Grant

Labyrinth, obviously... How can the other 3 even compare lol Rocky Horror is actually really good as well.

Raz0r_

As someone who’s life is musicals and as big fans of you guys, I appreciate you facing your fears, haha. I actually think you guys would enjoy Sweeney Todd. I hope it wins.
