Another classic feel good film. This movie was originally a flop. It was in theaters during the summer because they didn’t want to save a depressing film till Christmas. The main reason this movie became famous was the copyright lapsed so every tv station used to play this movie, which introduced it to a whole generation.

And Christmas Vacation's Assistant Director is Frank Capra III, the grandson of the director of It's a Wonderful Life, Frank Capra... so there are several references to this movie in Christmas Vacation.

The scene where Uncle Billy leaves the Bailey house drunk and you hear a crash, that was actually a crew member who knocked over some equipment. They left the sound in and uncle billy just ad libbed, im alright, im alright
