November Status and Updates

I hope you're well, wherever you are! It's getting colder up here in the Northern Hemisphere. I love fall, though, so no complaints until Jack Frost starts nipping at my nose!

SimFinancial Updates

I made some bug fixes and feature updates to SimFinancial based on your feedback.

I have moved the menu if you have my pie menus installed to my pie menu, otherwise it's still in the household menu, I have fixed some bugs related to loans and retirement accounts and other minor fixes from the beta version of the mod including income taxes not triggering after a week.

I have added new features including bankruptcy in case your sims get over their head in credit card and loan debt and financial advisors for sims who might need more hands on management to help with investments, such as knowing when to buy and sell stocks based on market trends, setting up and managing trust funds, and setting up and managing donor advised funds which were added to give your sims avenues to engage in charitable giving in a number of causes from which they can choose. You can download this updated version below (Version 1.4).

Active Therapy Centers

Additionally, this month, as I had said before, I have been working on ways to allow your sims to actively participate in therapy and doctor's visits.

I have created all the mod mechanics for your sim to have therapy sessions when visiting or running a small business. I have also completed the mechanics for your sim to have therapy sessions on custom venues and created a custom venue schedule template for Mental Health Retreats. What is left is to finish testing these mechanics on custom venues. I hope to have that done and added to the mod within the next week or so.

Once that's done, I hope to finish up testing for psychiatric sessions as well as group, family, and couples therapy sessions. When those are complete, I'll release the full project.

Active Medical Clinics

Once the work above for therapy centers is complete, I will turn my attention back to the doctor's visits and the medical clinic custom venue components. This will probably take me into January/February before Doctors visits are added but it is still something I'm actively working on.

Athletic Career Overhaul v1.5 - Updated to fix an issue with an objective

BG Health System v2.9.5 - Updated to make adjustments to illness rates.

Divergent Sims (Patron) v6.4 - Includes the ability to use mod traits in club, small business, and custom venue filters if Lot's Core Library is installed. If the patron version and the Active Therapy Center mod is installed a new trait called Mental Health Patient will also be available. This new trait makes it so that Sims with undiagnosed disorders (without diagnosed traits) can also been seen and treated by mental health professionals at small businesses and custom venues.

GTW Health Overhaul v4.9.5 - Updated to make adjustments to illness rates.

Healthcare Redux (Public v9.9.3/ Patron v10.9.4) - Updated to make adjustments to disease, condition, and medical emergency chances. Updated Gynecology module to use toilet seating instead of CAS gender. Fixed an issue with the Acupuncturist. The Patron version includes the ability to use mod traits in club, small business, and custom venue filters if Lot's Core Library is installed.

What this adds small business and custom venue activities pertaining to running a therapy practice or mental health center.

The activities are as follows:

• Tend Mental Health Office/Retreat Front Desk (someone MUST be assigned this task)

• Conduct Mental Health Session

• Participate in Mental Health Session

When setting up the business or therapy space, you should have separate offices for at least 2 mental health professionals. In the office should be a desk, computer, a desk chair, at least one living chair, and a couch.

The Sim who conducts Mental Health Sessions should ideally NOT be the same Sim who Tends the Reception Desk

Sims will check in with reception. At this time, player sims can choose between an individual, couples, family, and group therapy session and a psychiatric session. NPC visitors will generally choose individual or group therapy sessions but if they meet the criteria can sometimes choose psychiatric sessions. Once checked in, Sims will wait until a mental health professional is available for the session. Sessions are between 30 and 60 minutes.

Mental Health Retreat - Custom Venue Schedule Preset

The preset currently comes with three preset assignments.

• Mental Health Retreat Guests

• Mental Health Retreat Staff

• Mental Health Professionals

The preset schedule includes sleep, free time, breakfast and dinner, as well as prescheduled therapy sessions.

Bankruptcy

Sims who have fallen on hard financial times can petition for Bankruptcy. They can File Bankruptcy via phone under the Household menu or General Pie menu. Once they have filed the claim, they will be directed to attend Bankruptcy Court where a judge will hear their case. If their claim is denied, they will have to keep paying their debts. If their claim is accepted, their debts will be discharged (student loan debt the exception), some of their assets might be repossessed, their credit score will be affected, and their household funds and bank accounts will be liquidated up to the full amount owed on any and all debts.

Financial Advisor

Sims can utilize Financial Advisors who will help Sims with the following services: management of their investment portfolio including suggestions of when to sell and when to buy, setting up and managing trust funds, as well as setting up and managing Donor Advised Funds including suggesting charities to direct grants to. Trust Funds and Donor Advised Funds are only services available through a Financial Advisor.

Donor Advised Funds

Sims can setup Donor Advised Funds through a Financial Advisor to direct their philanthropic efforts. A Donor Advised Fund requires a minimum of $1,000 to open. Sims can direct their charitable grants from their DAF through their Financial Advisor to over 10 different Charitable Organizations and Causes. Charitable donations will offer Sims a modest tax break on their income taxes. 

Trust Funds 

Adult Sims and older can set up Trust Funds for minor sims (infant through teen) in their family. The minimum amount to fund a Trust Fund is $1,000. When the minor sim reaches young adulthood, they will be able to access the funds available in their Trust Fund, which can be transferred to their bank account or household funds, if they don't have a bank account. Trust Funds are a service currently only available through a Financial Advisor.
